This is an interesting piece with much supposition about who his successor will be.

The video is @

And of course, one is a woman – white as the biggest surprise. Michèle Angelique Flournoy is a Harvard grad – no surprise – and, most amazing of all, she's the wife of a retired Navy captain. She's a Clinton appointee which might give her demerits with the White House insiders.

Anyhow, read the full story @ http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/25/u...ers-are-contenders-to-succeed-hagel.html?_r=0

Says he was fired after having a run in with Susan Rice over Syria @ http://mobile.nytimes.com/2014/11/2...as-defense-chief-under-pressure.html?referrer=

One thing is certain: Obama's choice will more affected by race/gender politics than by professional capability.

She's an European policy specialist.

He's a systems guy.

Both have done some work in proliferation.

Both members for the Aspen Study Group..besides DOD..

Qualified place holders, who will have to rely on Operations Specialists...

Just heard on Fox News that she's asked to be taken out of consideration. That, to me, means she just might be best qualified for the job.

Hagel was unqualified, but he made a serious mistake. He began to understand just how unqualified he was and started listening to the qualified generals. Then he had to go. Whoever replaces him will be even more unqualified but won't listen to those who know better.

Flournoy took herself out of consideration. She would have been a good choice.
Wth the stink of failure all over this administration no one wants this job for 2 years only. He will end up either promiting the current assistent secretary, not a bad move, or bring in some no name chosen on the basis of personal loyalty. Maybe Valerie Jarrett.

There's another person in the mix. Damn I can't remember his name. But apparently between Rice and this gentleman poor Hagel and others are working for insane micro managers who don't have a clue what they are doing with foreign policy.

What a dog's breakfast this administration is.

I would say it's the dog's breakfast about 6 hours after the dog ate it.

A former defense department official told Politico that Flourney - a leading contender removed herself from consideration because she didn't "want to be a doormat" in an administration that likes its failed foreign policy and is keeping it.

Hagel may be around longer than Hagel himself or the president wants.

Obama and his minions will find a way to blame the Republicans.
