i paid taxes when i was in high school too but i think i got 100% back for being a student.
I should have perhaps phrased it as "have you had any tax year that you'd not filed as a dependent where you've not paid net taxes?"
If you're a dependent you'll likely pay more taxes than making the same income as an indepedent.
Since 2000 I have only received tax free money. VA and SS.
Quite a few liberals on this board who have NEVER paid income taxes. I'd bet on that.
When I was very young, but since being married, with two kids. No chance!
Sure we get back money, but not all of it!
of course you would. The phrase "quite a few" is entirely subjective.
The only year I received a refund since about 1988 was tax year 2005... massive casualty losses. I owe EVERY year.
Find the guy who is advocating higher taxes, you'll find the guy paying none or getting a nice refund each year.
Bet on it.
I have never gotten back more then I paid in, I have been paying taxes for over 19 years now. Also, if you receive the same amount back or more back then you paid in, that's not paying taxes, paying taxes is when you get less back then you put in.
I am one of those Federal Employees that got slammed on the pay raise for the next 5 years, but I wont complain, I agree we have to crack down on spending.
