A two-time World Series champion, McCarver caught 12 seasons in St. Louis over his 21-year career.

McCarver had his breakout season in 1964. In the WS vs. NYY he had 11 hits (23AB), 1triple, 1 double, 1 HR, 5RBI, 5 Walks...caught every game. OPS of 1291. He might have been MVP?

Never liked him that much as announcer? sorry to say. But, he did speak all those crazy funny "witticisms" you had to think about. He was probably under-rated. My bad.

As a Met fan, Tim McCarver was the best announcer I lever saw
Great understanding of the game and told you minor details you never realized.
He told some great stories about his days as a Catcher

Decades ago, his city of birth built a stadium and named it...Tim McCarver Memorial Stadium even though he was still alive.
