Many democrats are wanting to tax people making 10 million or more 70 to 90 percent.
As a business owner I have a question for democrats .first I dont make anywhere close to that but if i did what would be my motivation to work harder just to have my income taxed beyond what the 10 million cut off.

AOC and apparently most dems have no clue about economics or business.
She thought that the $2b in tax breaks NY would give for HQ2 could be better spent elsewhere??? DUH!!

All you need to know about today's Socialist Democrat Party can be found in the writings of Karl Marx and Saul Alensky.

For example, Class Warfare, demonizing the wealth - which these millionaire Democrat politicians are but seek to exempt themselves from all of this - is nothing new for them. It is part of who they are.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs"
-- Karl Marx

Democrats are targeting successful Americans unfairly. Let's be honest - all that money taken from these wealthy Americans will NOT all be going to 'those in need'. It will not be going to pay down the deficit. It would go into politician pockets, politicians who would spend that money on pork / on things to help ensure their own re-elections.

From the 1940s thru the 1970s the max tax rate ran between 70 and 90 percent. was such a thing a problem then?

Want to know some interesting facts.... Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos are both flaming liberals. Both contribute heavily to the Democrat Party. Both have over 100 billion dollars, yet find ways to avoid paying FAIR taxes.... Liberals love bill and Jeff, but hate any billionaire that has a (R) for their political belief.

I agree that most progressives seem to not understand macroeconomics. If you tax the rich 70% - they will just bolt and take their money with them.
It's not like before when tax rates were through the roof - the Cold War is long gone and there are TONS of great countries for wealthy people to go and be happy in.

But I STRONGLY disagree with governments giving tax breaks to certain businesses. Either give them to ALL businesses equally - or not at all.

Giving huge tax breaks to corporations only just wrecks the economic fundamentals of the geographic area in question.

I'm not endorsing such a tax plan, just providing my answer to the OP's question as the way I see it.

I'd see business competition as the motivation to continue to work hard. To slack would be to risk losing customers to somebody who is willing to work hard and bust his butt.

Weird. I’ll bet you expect your employees to work hard regardless of how much you pay them. Many Americans work as hard as they can for less than $15 an hour. Maybe you need to examine your personal work ethic.

It would likely prompt you to invest in your business and employees instead of socking your money away.

Well well another moron .my business partner and me pay above wage standards for our employees . we regularly invest in our company and employees .
I earn clear about 150 g a year and we have 36 employees .you see i know the value of good employees but if we have to pay more taxes guess who will also be effected our employees .I expect my hard work and theirs to benifit my family if my tax rate was doubled my incentive to pay above average would be compromised.

So my employees and me should work harder to get less is what your saying.

The left has never understood economics. They actually think that by increasing the tax rate on someone to that amount they are encouraging them to maintain that standard. They believe that out of some deep seated feeling of quilt they will not only be willing to have that money looted from them but be willing to remain here.
They also believe that they can point to many years in the past and state that federal taxes were that high so why not now? Seems they forget that state taxes have gone up over the years some into the stratosphere and some states are trying for even higher. Depending on the state that could put taxes at 100%. But then as I said economist was never a strong suit.

All in the hopes of gaining what, a couple hundred million? That will not even make a dent in any of the vote buying ideas the left are peddling during the coming election. Medicare for all, reparations, extending social security to illegals, the New Green Deal and others.

Now THAT was funny. Thanks.

No, only if you want to reduce the risk of your customers firing you and finding a company that's hungry and will go the extra mile for them. Likewise with employees, with the competition out there workers slack at their own risk.

It's more like the alternative may not be getting just less, it could be getting nothing at all.
