The Palestinians were just families. They had no weapons. The Arab armies had some guns from WW1.

The only way to get rid of Hamas is by ending the illegal, brutal Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories (West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza). Until that happens Hamas will continue to exist and even grow. Every missile that is fired into an apartment complex in Gaza that civilians (70% of the civilians killed are women and children), recruits hundreds of new fighters for Hamas. Those civilians are someone's mother, child, brother, sister. etc. The Israelis are expanding Hamas and all of the other militant resistance groups in the Palestinian community. They're filling their ranks.
