Almost a week after the Israeli military largely withdrew from Gaza, Hamas is demanding a ceasefire to ‘locate’ the hostages amid reports that most of the captives may have been murdered by the terrorist group since their abduction more than six months ago.
“Fears are rising over the fate of the remaining hostages held in Gaza after Hamas said it was unsure whether it could bring forth 40 Israeli civilian captives as part of a U.S.-backed cease-fire proposal, according to officials familiar with the negotiations,” The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
“Around 130 remaining hostages taken in the attack are still in Gaza. Of those, Israeli officials have publicly confirmed that 34 are dead, but Israeli and American officials estimate privately that the number of deaths could be much higher,” the business daily added.

The uncertainty over the well-being and safety of hostages grew even more after Hamas last month failed to hand over the list of living hostage still in its control — leading to the breakdown of Biden-backed ceasefire talks.


Commentary:
In a world committed to justice, all of the murderers being held by Israel would be executed. Of course, we know that won’t happen. I truly believe that if Israel had made the horrible videos of what Hamas terrorists did, there would have been a lot fewer pro-Palistine riots and protests. At this point in the war, if there are any survivors they most likely are the younger people, not the elderly. I too believe the hostages are dead and that leaves only one answer for Israel and that is to finish this war as they see fit.
The people kidnapped by Hamas were never hostages. There was never any plan to release them to Israel in exchange for concessions. They were the spoils of war, taken by individual Hamas members as playthings.
Anything else was mere smoke and mirrors. Those who were released were lucky that their captors had gotten bored with them and were willing to turn them over in exchange for something else.
We don’t know how Hamas leadership bribed them into giving up a few captives. Maybe with money. Maybe with ammunition. Maybe with prettier prisoners. Whatever. They were not turned over because of some master plan, executed with military precision. That’s not how who Hamas is.
The time for talking to two legged animals is over. Rafah should be flattened regardless of civilian casualties and collateral damage which are necessary parts of any war. Palestinians should be driven into the sea.
