Apart from the fact that Canada is your numero uno supplier, who you really fund when you fill up your car is your government. Taxes.

True story.

You must have missed this yesterday. There are only 40 bands involved. None of the other protestors count. It's not their band property.

Some have recognized that, and 15 of 18 aboriginal groups in Alberta and 11 of 22 in British Columbia have signed on.

The financial benefits are considerable. Considering there is really no other economic development available.

Enbridge will also be open-minded about benefits — even though it feels the $1-billion in long-term benefits, including 10% equity participation in the project, community investment and procurement opportunities offered to 40 First Nations along the pipeline route is already generous.

what are you trying to imply tinyd?

Not implying. Just simply stating that our governments make a fortune in taxes off our fuel consumption which is not an option in life. At least Washington does spend a higher percentage of the tax income on infrastructure as compared to Ottawa.

Pisses me clean off every time we gas up to see how much the government is taking. And the higher gas prices climb the more money they make don't they now?

They truly have no interest in seeing us get more affordable gas prices.

Hope they see the long-term ill-effects to their people and the Great Spirits land and refuse the offers

I mean that carbon-based fuels aren't the only way to raise revenue.

First Nations have greatly benefited from participation in developing their lands.

Great article here with an awesome title.

:D It's a good read.

Oil-sands companies currently contract with aboriginal-owned businesses for upward of $1.3-billion a year in goods and services. And more than 1,700 aboriginal employees have permanent operations jobs in the oil sands.

This is a significant benefit for First Nations in areas where economic development options may be limited.

Everything in the world is Carbon Based, from the Green Energy Wind Turbines, to the Solar Panels, to the Prius or the Hybrid you buy. Even the pools in the Green Energy fanatics yard, destroyed Carbon in the manufacture, in the filling, in the maintenance. The Beer the Green Energy nut drinks, burned Carbon in the making, drink a Soda burn Carbon.

Buy something used like a 1957 Chevy and no Carbon will be released in the atmosphere, it was built a long time ago, kind of like the perfect Green Machine.

Yet, some believe that building new factories to build wild new hybrid batteries out of rare earth metals, has less impact that to keep using that old Chevy.

Some believe that great Prius or Chevy Volt magically appears. that there is no Oil burned in production and manufacture of their delusions.

Yes, for some the answer is to throw away everything that we ever produced, even while its still working, and to replace it with new manufactured stuff that the government laws has Dictated as Green.

The Government gives subsidies to General Electric so that General Electric can supply components and parts to Government stuff dictated as Green, in return General Electric "Launders" the money and gives it back to Politicians and Candidates.

And now soon, CFL's will be dictated obsolete and the new command will be onl LED lights manufactured by General Electric.

And all this consumes more Oil, all this is a new government dictated use of Oil.
