60 is the new 40.Ohtani wll be on the wrong side of 30 halfway through the first season of that contract.
Doubtful. The reason this rarely happens is that teams don't want to spend their resources on guys with one foot in the grave, even if the production is the same or slightly better.60 is the new 40.
He'll play out his contract and go until 45 easy if he wants. ..maybe not pitching.
I don't necessarily agree but thanks for making me feel 62Doubtful. The reason this rarely happens is that teams don't want to spend their resources on guys with one foot in the grave, even if the production is the same or slightly better.
Might as well get that production out of a younger player with room to improve each season and who is less of an injury risk.
Why keep a 42 year old on the roster, wen you can get the same from a younger, cheaper player with room to improve, who is less of an iniry risk, and who holds value to other teams?
There are plenty of 38 year old DHs coaching in A ball who could produce as well as or out produce younger players in MLB.
