Ok, well, the debt has grown from 10.6 trillion to 16 trillion in just 4 years under Obama.

Actually, the debt on the first day of the Obama budget was 11,920,519,164,319.42, subtract the stimulus ($787 billion which was charged to the Bush fiscal year)) and you get $11.133 trillion. So the more so correct thing would be the debt has grown from 11.1 trillion to 16 trillion in just four years under Obama.
There are programs that were established by the Bush Administration that are part of the Obama budget such as Medicare Part D which long-term cost actually higher than the projected costs of Obamacare or there's the interest rate of the borrowed money by previous presidents.
Now naturally, whoever the next president is, they too will be saddled with the costs by programs started by Obama. So, the debt has grown from 11.1 trillion to 16 trillion in just 4 years under Obama. And yes, the spending by Bush and Obama will continue to be included in future president's fiscal years.

Obama had a supermajority to work with for two years! If Obama really thought Medicare part D was so bad, why didn't he try to repeal it? If Obama thought the Bush tax cuts were so bad, why did he extend them? If the war in Afghanistan was so bad, why did he double down on it?

Bush deserves his fair share of blame for our debt situation, but Obama we shouldn't absolve Obama from blame, after all, Obama said he would cut the deficit in half. Instead Obama has allowed all of Bush's programs to expand, and introduced what could be the killer- ObamaCare.

Ideologues typically strictly follow their ideologies all encompassing values on everything. They let their ideology think for them.
Do I want to be a puppet of any ideology? Hell no! The First Amendment contains something called "freedom of conscience (thought)" for a reason. Why do ideologues demonize the intent of the Constitution of the Untied States? It's there for a reason, why not use that freedom?
According to Gallup, 40% of Americans are independent of both parties. In other words the independent thinkers are a larger base than either the GOP or the Democrats and this base is growing as the major party identification is sinking.
Neither the GOP or the Democrats represent the values of a majority of Americans, so why goose-step to either party?

Their philosophies... spend... spend... spend and talk about how they are going to raise tax revenues. Note: they all do the spending and all they do is talk about how their plans will raise tax revenues.

I cannot think of a single conservative politician. Not a damned one of them cares to truly tighten the belt and take the political licks and ass kickings that it is going to take to bring us back to financial stability. They are all owned by the people that own the political parties and those people control both parties collectively and they are not us.

I can understand the reluctance to tighten the belt, but I cannot see how we can remain a financially sound nation at the rate we are going.

This country has weathered George W. Bush, Richard Nixon, and Jimmy Carter. We've survived being torn apart by civil war, World Wars 1&2, slavery, the racial upheaval of the 1950s-60s, Vietnam, and giving the vote to women. We'll muddle through like we always do, regardless of who gets elected.
