What is wrong with some people

You are wrong

Let's explore the five freedoms that Americans would lose under Obamacare:

1. Freedom to choose what's in your plan

The bills in both houses require that Americans purchase insurance through "qualified" plans offered by health-care "exchanges" that would be set up in each state. The rub is that the plans can't really compete based on what they offer. The reason: The federal government will impose a minimum list of benefits that each plan is required to offer.
Today, many states require these "standard benefits packages" -- and they're a major cause for the rise in health-care costs. Every group, from chiropractors to alcohol-abuse counselors, do lobbying to get included. Connecticut, for example, requires reimbursement for hair transplants, hearing aids, and in vitro fertilization.

The Senate bill would require coverage for prescription drugs, mental-health benefits, and substance-abuse services. It also requires policies to insure "children" until the age of 26. That's just the starting list. The bills would allow the Department of Health and Human Services to add to the list of required benefits, based on recommendations from a committee of experts. Americans, therefore, wouldn't even know what's in their plans and what they're required to pay for, directly or indirectly, until after the bills become law.

Good job copying and pasting there. What you seemed to have missed is THE DATE of that article, which does not actually review the policy that was passed.

None of those five points are actually in the current policy. None of them.

Are you starting to catch on to the fact that you have no clue what the policy is actually about? I mean, you just had to resort to googling for support to your claim, taking outdated information from a completely different policy. It's about time you conceded you are clueless.

Nothing wrong with cut and paste it keeps you from having to click on the link.
But anyway your need for new information just to be proven wrong is fine by me

As Medicaid Payments Shrink, Patients Are Abandoned - NYTimes.com

The ObamaCare bill, according the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office assumes that 8 million employees will lose their insurance coverage. That assumption is derived from the thought that employers will save money by taking a government penalty or fee to drop their employer sponsored health insurance.

Here in America no one has ever been denied Healthcare.

"Denied healthcare" and being bankrupted by it are different things.

A friend of mine recently moved back to Canada because she could not afford the treatment it would have cost her had she stayed in the US.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Can't afford health care in the US? Just move to Canada and let them pay for it!

Indeed. She's Canadian (which of course, makes her a superior human being!)

She looked at her options and found that she could get quality care that wouldn't ruin her financially.

Why does a person want to live in a socialist system?

Because I love living in America. The confluence of socialism and capitalism has made this country a great place to live.
One day you will wake up and ask where did my freedoms go that is if you are free to think when that time comes.

Fear!

Fear is a powerful motivator. Having to fend for yourself is scary.

It's seducing for the government to say don't worry about it, we will take care of you no matter what you do. You don't have to earn what you have, we'll give it to you.

It's gives them security, but takes away liberty, and achievement.

Will the hand-wringing never end? The US was the only first world nation without socialized medicine. I dunno if what we got in the health care bill qualifies as that, but it's a step. If there are weird things in the bill -- as seems to be the case -- hopefully in time, they can be removed.

The answer is yes, I want to live in a nation where none of my neighbors are denied health care. I'm just as socialist as the average Canadian.

You people need a new tune to play; this one is o-l-d.

Wrongo!

The inventor of the blood transfusion was denied access to a hospital after an auto accident. He was black the hosp was white and he died of blood loss. In WW2 white blood and black blood was kept seperate and only given to the appropriate race.

"Has ever been" goes all the way back.

Many many cases and not all racial by any means.
Virtually none are denied medical care since the nanny state govt took over.
However the right both says that no one is denied and wants to eliminate the nanny state govt that makes the non denial possible.

That's good she had that option. I wish we had more options in the US, but the government put too many controls in place. Now, of course, they've passed some monstrosity of a health care plan which will make matters even worse. Maybe we should all move to Canada.

So we are talking about past denials? Sure some people were denied way back when. But let's advance to the 80's has anyone in America been denied healthcare?

I agree with you but I will stay here in America.

Why does a person want to live in a socialist system? Why do they want more government control of their lives? Is it because they want handout's from the government? Do they wish to surrender their individual rights for a few scraps from the governments table of taxes? Open your eyes people just look at the new Healthcare Law, there are a lot of mandates in it, requirements to buy something that you may not need or want. Could it be that people are afraid of failure is that why they crave socialism?

i lived in danmark for a year....it wasn't so bad.....everyone seemed pretty happy and content....

what folks criticizing american policy fail to recognize is that the government is not afforded the blind ideology which polarizes die hard capitalists and marxists. instead, the US has implemented policies which work, arguably better than many other nations. this is particularly the case when you look at the whole of our history and the whole of the outcome.

putting aside these childish ideals, and looking at history, one might argue that healthcare in the US is the greatest available on the planet. the history behind our public/private healthcare and the solvency of our relatively unique all-american HMO system betrays a foundation in heavy-handed government mandates.

the dissenters who claim anyything and everything is socialism, don't know their history, don't know their government.
