In the latest of many scandals involving President Obama’s stimulus, a famously corrupt U.S Senator helped a wealthy Indian tribe casino that employs his former aide get $54 million in federal funds meant to help struggling communities.

Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd, an honorary two-time member of Judicial Watch’s Most Corrupt Politicians list, helped the politically-connected Mohegan Sun Casino—operated by the Mohegan Tribal Council—hit the jackpot even though it hardly needs to. Situated halfway between New York City and Boston, Mohegan is one of the nation’s highest grossing casinos and last year it earned a whopping $1.3 billion, according to the news report that broke the story this week.

The $54 million represents more than 1/3 of the money allocated by the USDA in the latest round of stimulus funding for its rural development program. The USDA claims the casino will use the money to help create “1,200 jobs” via a shovel-ready project in southeastern Connecticut.

And if 1200 jobs are not created, will they have to pay the money back?

(oh that's right - maybe the jobs will just be "saved")

I can look past it considering that their people were virtually wiped off the planet and the fact that every treaty that they ever signed was broken by the U.S. I think we can look pass a small 54 million don't you.

Have you watched the news? Do you realize we are headed toward bankruptcy? Maybe guilt money should be offered in better times. Feel free to donate to the Native Americans at any time. You don't have the right to force charity on others. Esp to the "rich"

I have supported the concept of the stimulus when it comes to "shovel ready jobs". But as we all have learned, it has been nothing but pork. What do they shovel in a casino? Quarters?

1/3 of the stimulus money came in the form of TAX CUTS.

That would be PORK for some of us , I suppose.

Dodd should be wearing an orange jumpsuit for sure. I don't care that he's retiring. They should arrest him anyway. He has committed crimes against humanity in my opinion. He has completely sunk so many future generations with his despicable corruption. He shouldn't be allowed to get away with his crimes.

I never understood why Indians are allowed to have casinos anyway. I swear to God this notion that we owe someone extra benefits because of something that was done to their ancestors is ridiculous. I never gamble at Indian casinos.

ANd oh yeah, Dodd is a tool.

$54M for 1200 jobs? That seems like an awful lot of money per job to me, but I guess when you use government math it isn't that bad.

$2 Billion is going to a Soros owned Brazilian oil company for.... drumroll please...... OFFSHORE DEEPWATER DRILLING!!!

But we can't do it here. More proof of who is running the country. Obama is a big fat nothing... a mouthpiece and a tool.

As a descendant of the people who were the "victims" of the single longest Indian campaign in history I have exactly one thing to say to you, fuck you and your condescending attitude.
