What is wrong with some people

Because I pay $7 a month for 2 MB internet, $30 a month for electric,800 kWH, $24 a month for auto insurance,$19 a month for health care including free prescriptions, dental, and eyes.
$7 for telephone. 13 cents for long distance.$6 for a liter of liquor, $1.30 for a pack of smokes.
$45 for 4 vials of antivenin.$10 to 15 for a college level research book.$20 a month for Mandarin classes.
$240 a year for property tax. $400 a year for one million coverage for homeowners insurance.
The central bank pays me 6% interest.
Damn socialistas.
We need to import about 100,000 Jews to get in the middle of all these contracts and raise the cost of living about 500%.......or more.
Gawd Blass Kaptalizm !

At least you are paying for and not expecting a handout.

what's wrong with you? why all this mindless blathering?

I am very aware of what I am saying. I am not the one with the blinders on. I am not the one that goes into the defensive mode when the word soicalism is mentioned.

no, you just begin to salivate and spray when the "soicalism" bell rings.

Do you not realize that socialism is the prefered economical system that creats a dictatorship?

Why does a person want to live in a socialist system? Why do they want more government control of their lives? Is it because they want handout's from the government? Do they wish to surrender their individual rights for a few scraps from the governments table of taxes? Open your eyes people just look at the new Healthcare Law, there are a lot of mandates in it, requirements to buy something that you may not need or want. Could it be that people are afraid of failure is that why they crave socialism?

Simply because as long as we have a government we will have a degree of socialism. Our government provides police and fire protection, schools, roads, military....all socialist programs
The question is not whether we should be socialist or not, but to what degree
Some functions are better performed by the government than the private sector. Healthcare is one of them. The US has the most expensive healthcare system in the world. We pay more and get less. One of the reasons is we have ducked our responsibility to care for our people and passed it off to employers to provide as a "benny" to their employees.
This benny used to be low cost and was widely available. With increasing healthcare costs, employers are dumping healtcare coverage in increasing numbers.
It is another example of a program that is best provided by the government...the rest of the world has already figured this out
Police are not obligated to protect anyone.
Have you ever heard of a voluntary fire department?
Privates schools?
If you think we pay more for healthcare and get less now just wait until you get the bill for the healthcare law, just wait until it comes into effect. you ain't seen nothing yet.
And why are employers dumping healtcare coverage in increasing numbers now?

Volunteer fire companies do not pay for their equipment, local comunities do. A non-socialist fire company would arrive at a fire and ask you how you intend to pay them for putting it out. Will that be cash or charge?
Private schools are great if you can afford to pay. Millions of Americans would go without education if they had to pay for it out of pocket. The country as a whole benefits from an educated workforce ...proving that socialism works

One of the things I see 'wrong with people' is the blithely tossing around of labels like "socialist" and "socialism" in order to demonize opinions and positions.

My personal frustration in American politics stems from the apparent majority who can't seem to see beyond the talking points from both sides of the aisle. Instead of just following the talking heads and the politicians, how difficult is it for people to use guys like Rush and the politicians as the tools that they are to follow the money to actual answers? Apparently, the first requirement is to be smarter than a 5th grader.

Do you not realize that socialism is the prefered economical system that creates a dictatorship?

uneducated zealots who repeat slogans they haven't remotely understood are enabling dictatorships.

Oh yes they do pay for their equiptment, why do they ask people to donate to them to help pay for a new fire truck?

Follow the money, honey. I know for a FACT that some of the money I spend every month on my health care, in the form of insurance premiums, goes toward vacation homes in the Hamptons and helicopter rides out to them for insurance executives.

IMHO - that is a piss poor use of money I'm forced to spend. The only difference between our current health care bureaucracy and a government run bureaucracy is that when enough of us get tired of funding the lifestyle the bureaucrats become accustomed to in government, we can rattle their cage on election day.

Private insurance bureaucrats just laugh at us behind darkened limo windows as they pass by the bank, knowing that electronic transfers of funds from me and you to them continues unabated. Why else would they spend a couple of Billion of those dollars hiring mercenary lobbyists to grease political wheels and keep the status quo in place?

OH I see now..... Why do you care what anyone does with the money that you gave them for services rendered? If they did not give you what you were charged for then you have a legit complaint. Once you pay for something and the money is given to the provider what busniess is it of yours or anyone elkse for that matter what they do with the money? It's thiers.

More labels designed to produce not much more than fear.

Tell me how you follow the money. Tell me specifically what in the health care bill you oppose - odds are I oppose those specifics too. Tell me specifically what type of bureaucracy you think is most appropriate to manage the dollars collected from customers and paid to providers, and how the bureaucrats charged with running it should be paid.

I am sick and fucking tired of political arguments riding on the single-wheeled claim of "it's Socialism, that's why!"

Instead of talking point labels, give me specifics and give me answers.

Because it sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, the most hard-working and loyal workers who answer "I will work harder!" to every problem eventually get sold to the glue factory.

Here in America no one has ever been denied Healthcare.

"Denied healthcare" and being bankrupted by it are different things.

A friend of mine recently moved back to Canada because she could not afford the treatment it would have cost her had she stayed in the US.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Can't afford health care in the US? Just move to Canada and let them pay for it!

If given the task of hiring a bookkeeper to handle the paperwork of paying my bills and I get two bids, one for 22% of the total collected and one for 3% of the total, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make the choice.

Private insurance bureaucracy: 22% - 25% of premiums collected go toward administration and profit.

Social Security and Medicare: <3% of taxes collected go toward administration and there is no profit to pay.

Like I said, unless big corporate money and influence is a factor in the decision process, a Public Option in health care bureaucracy should be the obvious choice.

LOL...

No they are not asking you to pay for a new firetruck with the quarters you throw in the basket. Fire Trucks cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, training a "volunteer" costs thousands of dollars.......the local community pays that through taxes

The money you throw in a basket usually pays for some social events or even health insurance for firefighters who do not have it.

Labels are good they are used to identify things.

I oppose the healthcare law because even in it's weaken water down form the government now has a door open to have their single payer option. The government cannot in noway shape or from to deliever what they said they could. They will ration even the most basic of care.

Tell me specifically what type of bureaucracy you think is most appropriate to manage the dollars collected from customers and paid to providers
I am not for no government but what happens in the private sector should stay in the private sector. But if the provider does not provide what was paid for then we do have the courts to take care of that. With this healthcare law you will not be able to sue the provider if you do not get the care that you are supposed to get.
