What is going on in Haiti???

You people are pretty stupid.

The president's comment was aimed at the people of NO...there was already a "mandatory" evacuation. Bush was only following protocol. Too bad that he fell asleep for the next several days.

I don't call you stupid, rather partisan. Who's job was it to call for the help? There were offers to put FEMA in place before it hit, they weren't acted upon. Too bad there isn't warnings about earthquakes nearly a week in advance.

Unbelievable video coming out of Haiti......it's even worse than the worst nightmares anyone has ever had. Mass graves in a landfill. May God rest the souls of the victims and bring them peace.

Actually, the UN in Haiti didnt do that much of a bad job prior to the EQ.

There were several problems:
-1: The 3 most important people of the UN mission in Haiti all died, leading them bereft of effective leadership.
-2: Initial help responses were badly coordinated, with a fair amount of problems also created by the US (during Bidens 3 hour visit, noone was allowed to land on the air strip), the US was also very selective in deciding who could get in.
-3: There is a bit of a fuss going on between the USA, France(Haiti was a French colony) and Brazil (which was largely running the UN operation)

Concerning China: China was quite glad by the fairly significant help Russia send it during their Earthquake a while ago, they also have the resources to perform aid operations, and correctly assume that such aid will give them prestige, especially if they stay pragmatic while other "helpers" bicker amongst each other.
