Before Wanting To Die

Turns out Trump supporters still support Trump.

This was the year the political media couldn’t stop reminding us of the forgotten Americans. All year long, outlets parachuted reporters into “Trump Country” to observe his voters in their habitat — “Cletus safari” is the derisive term of art — and the reporters returned with tenderly crafted soft-focus portrait after tenderly crafted soft-focus portrait of people aching to say the n-word.

Trump supporters are mad, reporters told us. Maybe you’ve heard? They’re mad at the establishment, they’re mad at Democrats, and most of all, they’re mad that they’ve been left behind. (And of course a lot of them are mad at black people, and many even say as much, but we try not to talk about that part.)

These stories were a sort of pornography. They existed less as a way of explaining the country to their audience than as a way for media outlets to gratify themselves, or perhaps to atone for the perceived sin of overlooking Trump supporters the year before. Some profiles offered insight; many more did not. But together, in their sheer bulk, they illuminated a larger story: the longstanding media habit of indexing the American political narrative to the sanctified yearnings of a narrow slice of white voter. Reagan Democrats, independent voters, the “undecided,” soft Republicans — no matter how small their number, no matter how wide the electoral margin, these groups always become the axis on which the story of every election turns.

In 2017, the story was deemed to be the rural Trump diehard and his or her unflagging support for the president. Below are 36 such Trump supporter profiles published in the past year, 36 being the number I was able to read without melting my brain.

I read all I could handle before acid reflux turned into flat out vomiting. Trump supporters are both stupid and pitiful. I really do feel sorry for them. They still believe that Trump will be their savior.

What's going to save the govt and parties is respecting the Constitution, including protecting political beliefs of all people equally from infringement by others.

What's going to save the churches and people is uniting by the spirit of Truth Justice and Peace that fulfills all laws and religions regardless of denomination or affiliation.

What's going to save humanity and collective society is mutual forgiveness correction and healing.

Trump is not the answer to any of this work and process which is going to take all people of all Nations and tribes to fulfill.

He has his own purpose and process and path to fulfill. And right now his job is barking down the liberal media where elitist politics has infiltrated govt and party. That isn't the solution in itself but just one step.

It's going to take all parties to fix the messes and debts our country is in!!!

Although not necessarily representative of every Trump voter/supporter, it clearly reflects the ignorance, stupidity, bigotry, fear, and hate common to the majority of those who voted for Trump:

The ignorance and stupidity that Trump would ‘save’ jobs.

The hate and unwarranted fear of change, diversity, and expressions of individual liberty – particularly the hate and unwarranted fear of immigrants and Muslims.

And of course the endless lies Trump supporters contrive and attempt to propagate – such as the lie that Russia didn’t interfere in the 2016 election, and the lie that ‘the left’ is ‘intolerant.’

Trump’s victory was a victory for rightwing ignorance, stupidity, and hate.

It's the decent stupid people who were conned by Trump that I feel sorry for - not the flamers, anarchist and nihilists.

He only won enough ignorant people in a few stupid states to win the electoral college. However, Hillary received over 3 million more votes.
He still won. Now I'm reduced to hoping Ginsburg & Kennedy remain vertical and watching him load the lower courts. Among many other things.

You people played a role in this, whether you'll admit it to yourselves or not. This was largely a backlash against the very things you say here.
