What are you avoiding doing right now?

I am avoiding helping my son with a history project that is fairly involved and imo, busywork. Seriously, why do teachers give projects the last 4 weeks of school plus additional homework over a holiday/long weekend/break?? I wouldn't.

Who knows? What grade? My daughter had a big ole' history project, but that was 2 weeks ago. She did bring home her history book to study for her final this weekend, that's about it.

I never give homework on Fridays, most teachers in our building don't either.

But that's elementary level. Maybe it's different in high school.

He's 10th grade, special needs. If I were a teacher I wouldn't give projects the final month of school. I'd have everything project-wise done by mid May at the latest. It's due 6/12 but I want it done before that . . . mostly so it's off my mind!

I don't give homework on Fridays or holidays. Of course a long-term project that is due on the Wednesday following a holiday, might be an 'emergency' because of the student's lack of planning.

I don't give 'busy work.' Any section review responses are done in class. Long-term projects are never busy work. They are designed to have the student research beyond the text, report on their findings and present in a coherent manner. The project format takes the place of a chapter test, helps to develop or increase skills needed for future academic success-whether on research, documentation, or use of technology in presentations.

I'm avoiding doing everything possible today. It's too nice a day. Avoided cooking lunch. Went to the pub instead. I swear I'm gonna kill that barman one day. When I got there I went up to the bar said, "I want something tall, icy cold and full of vodka". Cheeky bastard opened the door to the kitchen and shouts, "Oi, Doris, someone here looking for you."

Saw my mate Dave there. He was avoiding the wife. He told me he was thinking of divorcing her because she hasn't spoken to him for six months. I told him he should think hard about that before making any rash decision...women like that are hard to find.

Oh. Another thing. headline in the paper this morning: "Pakistanis push bottles up Taliban."
What? They trying to save ammo! Still, seems to be working. I must admit, it sounds ridiculous, but then again...must be pretty difficult to do nigh on anything with a bottle stuffed up your backside.

Bought my girlfriend a present on the way home. Hope she likes it. Just a little something to remember me when I'm away. It's one of those new vibrators. Just come out. It's so realistic that just before she reaches her climax it cums, coughs, farts, goes limp and switches itself off.

Well, I avoided almost everything but I did have to boil the kettle to make a cup of tea. Yeh. I put some Viagra powder in it. Don't need it for an erection. It stops the biscuits going soft.

Where's that vodka?

There's nothing to avoid. My day is mine to do with however I please. I'm retired, have enough money to play, and no significant other. I'm free as a bird and loving it. Life is good. :D

Avoidance mode activated. Ironing can wait 'till tomorrow. Vodka level precludes being in charge of a steam iron. :booze:

Or just put the vodka IN the steam iron, kind of like a toddy!

Hic...

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk,
At home as it is in the pub.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, The bitter and The lager.
Forever and ever.
BARMEN.
