What are the poor people working minimum wage supposed to do without national healthcare? Most retail, restaurant, gas station, etc, businesses deliberately refuse to allow most non-manager employees to even work 40 hours/week so that they don't have to provide benefits of any kind.

Someone has to do the sh*t jobs. Are these people supposed to go without healthcare? These are the people who don't make enough in their weekly paycheck to even pay for regular doctor's visits much of the time let alone pay for expensive procedures. And yet the rest of the American population relies on the people working these sh*t jobs.

I don't see anyone in Congress pushing for a bill to force rich corporations like McDonald's to offer decent healthcare to their employees that doesn't involve taking half of the employee's paycheck every week. Why the hell not? Fast food and retail companies often do offer a "joke" of a health insurance program, one that takes away half the pay check of the employee only to give a worthless insurance program in return that often isn't any cheaper than if the person had bought it himself independently. And these people usually don't really have enough to live on to begin with. So they can hardly afford to have a huge chunk of their paycheck taken away for worthless garbage in return.

Ironically, in many counties and states, people who don't work at all can qualify for a state or county healthcare program that pays for outpatient care. But as soon as many of these people take a job at McDonalds, Taco Bell, or Kmart, all of a sudden they have to give up both their healthcare and food stamps.

What the hell kind of system is that where people get penalized for working?

People say it's un-American to consider socialized medicine. Is it not also un-American to be selfish and not take care of people working sh*t jobs? Someone has to work them. What are these people? Trash? Are we better than they are? To be American apparently means you don't have a conscience and you're the only one that matters.

In the first place.... most of the "sh*t jobs" are transitory/part-time jobs for most people...if you stay in one permanently you are probably a retard....which means you can get additional help from the government...

But what about the employer/businessman who hires those people to do those sh*t jobs?

Recently the minimum wage was raised about 10%....how does he pay that?

On top of that....

the health bill could add on as much as another $6 per hour in costs....how does he pay that?

Guess what?

Businesses are going to suffer...those sh*t jobs are just going to DISAPPEAR....

...plus prices will go UP...hurting even MORE poor people...

Apparently to be Socialist means you don't have a conscience either.....

Republicans don't care about them.

Which shows you have no class whatsoever. There is nothing dishonorable about working a menial job and keeping it. Quite the opposite. You suck majorly.

Sheesh...Nowhere but upward for the intelligence level to go here.

Never heard of Medcaid, workman's comp (an even bigger racket), or the slew of other state programs for the indigent, have you??

Never said it was dishonorable.....but I'm so glad you're proud of your great job cleaning toilets...keep up the good work!

I don't know about where you live, but most of those "shit jobs" are filled by high school kids, and during summers, college kids just so they have spending money. People don't actually keep them. You want health insurance, get a job that offers it. Don't have the skills? Learn them. Need schooling? Go to school.

Don't cloud a whiny boo-hoo noob OP with the facts, you mean spirited, cold hearted, wrongheaded, cruel, selfish, muckity-muck who hates the chiiillllldrreeennn and kicks cats!!!

I can't imagine any of the more vociferous people on here even have jobs. If they do, these jobs wouldn't require a command of the written language or people skills. I'm not sure what opportunities that leaves open for them.

No doubt a good number of 'em are leeching off the taxpayers.

'Course that's different.
Or maybe when the tide comes in they save up for when the tide goes out.

Y'know....Personal r-r-r-r-r-r-responsibility and all that.
