Two more companies announcing pay increase for their employees due to the tax bill passage.

But I thought this was the end of civilization as we know it........

Fifth Third Bancorp will pay more than 13,500 employees a bonus and raise the minimum wage of its workforce to $15 an hour after the passage of the Republican tax plan that will cut the bank's corporate tax rate.

Fifth Third is yet another company to announce a bonus for employees because of the tax plan. AT&T said earlier Wednesday that it would pay more than 200,000 U.S. employees $1,000 each and increase its capital spending budget by $1 billion.

Wells Fargo, meanwhile, also said it would be boosting its minimum wage for employees to $15 an hour, which was prompted by the tax plan. The San Francisco-based bank also said it would target $400 million in donations to community and nonprofit organizations next year.

So basically Trump is giving people $15 an hour minimum wage without having to make it a nation wide law. Crazy.

They both got bennies from the Trump Tax Cut and At & T got repeal of net neutrality.

That's what happens when you stimulate the private sector. Good stuff starts to happen all over. Now watch all those evil 'ultra rich' people start new businesses, hire people, or remodel their house to the max, hire more people.

The thing is we do not know what they were making prior, and most yearly raises are done at the end of the year, and maybe they always give bonuses. So gullible. Go ahead thought and pray to Trump.

Of course, their taxes will increase in other areas to meet the needs created by shortfalls, which will somewhat offset these gains, as will the inflation we are about to undergo. But, as far as PR ploys go(which this 100% is), I can think of worse.

That's one of the very few points you have ever made.
You go girl!

Hard to say but if they made a press announcement I'm guessing they weren't going to get the extra thousand before now.

Yes, dumbass, hence the reason they are now paying their employees more, because they have more money to pay. You see, that’s how it works when companies have more of their own money and the government has less. People benefit

Really? Fascinating. Because the statistics show that, despite decades of record corporate profits, wages have stagnated, as have benefits. And, as it turns out, tax revenue is not gathered and shot into outer space...it actually goes back into the economy, to people's benefit. Such as, for instance, enforcing laws against criminal fraud like that uncovered at....wait for it....Wells Fargo.

Yeah, and it also gets spent on a perpetual war machine around the world, into the hands of foreign dictators, the government picking winners and losers in the form of corporate welfare, and a multitude of other wasteful ventures

I don't think it would be a hard exercise to point to the money "wasted" by private business.

Nancy Pelosi was right!

It’s Armageddon!!

Crazy, if the government lets the market breathe, it takes care of itself.

No need for a federal law, if you allow businesses to keep more of the money they earn, it will help the employees.

For some reason, LWNJ's are horrified at the idea of people being able to keep more of their own money.

:cuckoo:

To them, it’s not the people’s money, it’s the government’s money and they let you keep some of it.

It’s not your money and you allow the government to take some to provide valuable services.

That is Prog logic.

I would not have guessed Wells Fardo had minimum wage workers...not surprised though all the scandals they've benn caught in
