(Yahoo News) – Key parts of the internet infrastructure face large-scale attacks that threaten the global system of web traffic, the internet’s address keeper warned Friday. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) declared after an emergency meeting “an ongoing and significant risk” to key parts of the infrastructure that affects the domains on which websites reside. “They are going after the
Warning issued over attacks on internet infrastructure

Never fear the know it all dildos will be along tellling us all how it can't happen or it isn't possible. Ready set go 1.................2.......................3.....................

Why do you make so many threads about things that technically could happen but havent happened? Its like you get off on it. Be honest, are you hoping this happens?

Oh, it HAS happened. been going on for a LONG time now. Seems our geniuses in the government are FINALLY beginning to see the light. But not before we've allowed nations such as China to steal enough of our technology secrets to become a serious threat.

As an IT person and builder and maintainer of servers, I can assure you that it's no joke.

On any given day on one of my "slow" servers, it's not unusual to see 10,000 or more attempts to hack into the server one way or another. And these are extremely low value targets with little to be gained. Once compromised, a server (or even your personal PC or laptop) can be set up to act as a private server doing nefarious things you are not even aware of. Happens thousands of times every day to people from all walks of life. Identity theft occurs over the Internet primarily.

Government, Social media giants, tech giants and corporations are facing a daunting task to keep their data secure.
It's why we continously hear of "data breaches" from Facebook, Citibank etc etc etc etc etc etc

Many of these networks should have absolutely no connection to the outside network, and zero wifi and bluetooth capabilities.

People have been extremely naive in the US and nations such as Iran, China and North Korea have made an industry out of stealing secrets from those lambs naive enough not to cover their technological asses.

The US has at least recognized the threat from certain entities such as China's Huiwei which makes Security DVR's and many other security related products. Germany and other european nations are scoffing at the US, saying there are no known threats to date from Chinese tech giants. Wow. We need to refrain from sharing our military and state secrets with such nations at all costs.

The OP is a valid concern. Too bad so many still don't understand. Just because they don't understand the threat does not mean it doesn't exist. Al contrar.

I can't say I always agree with the OP on some of the things he/she posts....but THIS I know about.

Previously, Tehran boasted that it had hacked numerous US military drones, allegedly obtaining intelligence and video footage from them. In 2011, an Iranian cyberwarfare unit managed to take control over a US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth recon UAV and land it.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh noted in his speech on 24 February that Iranian military technology had reached a peak and allows the country to infiltrate US military systems, Tasnim News Agency reported.

"We [hacked US drones] to tell them that 'not only you failed to reach your goals, but we have infiltrated your systems', and that was the answer to the Americans' insolence", he said.

Hajizadeh said in an interview on 22 February that Iran had managed to take control over "seven to eight [US] drones" that were flying over Syria and Iraq, adding that the Islamic Republic had managed to gather "first-hand intel" from them. Fars News Agency published a video claiming that it was footage that had been taken by the US drones allegedly hacked by Teheran's cyber unit.
