Voting Machines DOWN Across New York City

A mere coincidence?

Officials in Richland County, S.C., are looking into reports by voters that their voting machines were selecting the opposite candidates they chose.

Election Day got off to a rocky start when voters in one town outside Phoenix showed up to vote only to find their polling place had been foreclosed upon the day before.

Texans submitting ballots in early voting reported problems with voting machines switching some of their selections, a problem state officials said was connected to Hart eSlate machines used in about 30 percent of counties in the state.

Voters in Greater Cincinnati encountered long lines and a few technical glitches as they cast ballots Tuesday morning.

Election officials said voters and poll workers were confused by a change in the voting machine system there that now alerts voters if they have “under voted,” or left some races on their ballots blank.

How many more are there? Is there something behind all this? And, if the Dims lose, does it give them wriggle room to take it to the courts?

Election nightmares: Power outages, old machines and ballot deficiencies @ Election nightmares: Power outages, old machines and ballot deficiencies

Every election. Same thing.

Rhode Island: Some polls had a late start because of technical issues or workers arriving late.

All polls operational. Several polls opened a bit late due to pollworkers not reporting for duty or issues entering a complex password to start the voting machine. Alternate pollworkers were immediately assigned and our technicians resolved password issues quickly. #ElectionDayRI Board of Elections (@RI_BOE) November 6, 2018
Pennsylvania: The judge of elections had a medical emergency and was unable to open one polling place in Pittsburg, according to the Pittsburg Post-Gazette. The equipment needed to start the ballot machines was also not on site, and at 9:15 a.m. — more than two hours after the polling was slotted to begin — the machines were still not in service.

Tennessee: At a polling place in Knoxville, voters who showed up to the middle school that housed a polling site had to cast paper ballots as the location had a power outage Tuesday morning and its generator failed as well, CNN reports.

South Carolina: The Richland County Elections Director told CNN that he was seeing more frequent issues with calibration for older voting machines — meaning the wrong candidate was being accidentally selected.

  • When voting machines are not working properly, voters can submit emergency paper ballots at the polling place. Those will be tabulated later on in the day.
Arizona: One polling site was foreclosed on the day before Election Day in a town outside of Phoenix, Arizona, according to USA Today. The issue was eventually solved and the site was opened late.

North Carolina: The North Carolina State Board of Elections released a statement explaining that in some polling locations, high humidity was causing issues with ballots being read by voting machines.

Texas: One precinct in Arlington, Texas ran out of enough paper ballots while dealing with machine issues, according to CNN.

Here in Amarillo, there were rumors like that floating around as well. Some people thought their vote was being flipped by the machines, when in reality it was that they didn't understand the instructions. If you are voting straight party, you hit the straight party button, and it will automatically fill in the candidates for that party. But, if your party doesn't have anyone running for the office, it will show you the ballot with the other 2 parties on it, and you can pick one from there. In cases where there is only one person running, and they aren't from your party and you don't want to vote for them, you can hit the "skip vote" button.

Afterwards, there is a screen that asks you if you would like to review your ballot or cast it. If you hit the cast button without reviewing it, you could end up with votes you didn't intend to cast. I know that I checked my ballot twice before hitting the cast vote button.

Political officials have said that the confusion came because people didn't review their ballots before casting them.

Nothing in my district. County over had a problem when a gentleman threatened to shoot everyone at the polling station b/c he wanted to vote but he wasn’t registered.

We stopped using machines here some time back. Paper now.

The problem with paper ballots is that it enables ballot box stuffing.

If you do it the way Oregon does it, it's damn near impossible to stuff a ballot box. You register to vote, and around a month before the elections, they mail a ballot to the address on your voter registration. And, when it is sent back and counted, they verify your ballot signature against the signature on your voter registration.

If someone steals your ballot? No problem, they can't vote for you because they don't know what your signature looks like. And, if there became a rash of ballots being stolen, the voting authorities would have enough time to sort stuff out and put the person stealing the ballots in jail for a felony. But, if a person had to steal ballots from every house, that would be too much work, and would also be way too easy to get caught.
