Voter Suppression in 2022? Not in Georgia!

I can tell you right now. Throw out all environmental bullshit holding back production and refining of petroleum. Restart the Keystone XL build and EXECUTE anyone standing in the way.

Yep......release the energy sector, cut taxes, cut regulations, cut government spending, and the economy will boom back and inflation will shrink....

but so too will the power of the democrats and their god, "government," which is why they fight tooth and nail against those things.

I will refer you to all the threads on that topic. Suffice to say Georgia cleaned up its system to make fraud a lot harder to do.

The abbreviated summary is here, but this isn't a very objective source:
I, like a lot of people heard some of the more extreme proposals and got very nervous. The system that CBS describes sounds reasonable to me. How it makes fraud a lot harder to do however, except for limiting drop box access, I don't really see. We'll see who in future elections, if anyone, claims they lost in GA due to fraud.

Remember all the bruhaha about Georgia's election reform making it much hard to cheat there? The Democrats, led by Stacy Abrams (who has yet to concede her last election attempt), said the Republicans intended to suppress the vote etc. etc. etc. Leftists all over the country rallied to support that really REALLY stupid claim including the MLB pulling their all star game out of Georgia in protest.

It finally went to court and the court ruling was no suppression identified, no suppression exists, the election laws are legal and valid.

Georgia is now enjoying substantial record early voting in this election and by all indications the turnout will exceed 2020.

So who exactly had his/her vote suppressed?

There’s a simple reason.

Voter suppression CAN be overcome.

But it takes EFFORT

'“We proved in ’18 and it remains true that turnout does not dispel voter suppression,” Abrams said Monday. “Suppression is about barriers to access. But the antidote to suppression is overwhelming the polls with your presence and that is exactly what voters did in 2018, it’s what they continued to do in 2020 and ’21 and is what we are seeing in ’22. But it is wrong to suggest that there is a correlation between voter turnout and voter suppression because suppression is about barriers.”'

So Abrams says to combat voter suppression, voters should vote.

It's laughable.

For sure. And Abrams never explains HOW high voter turnout is voter suppression.

She said in your OP that making people use their legal name to register to vote, or making them stand in line to vote at the polls is voter suppression, LOL.

"We know that 50,000 voters had their right to vote held hostage by the exact match process which was proven to be voter suppression tactics. We know that thousands of people stood in lines for hours because of voter suppression tactics"

Hmmm, standing in lines sounds like election day...or getting in to a concert, or a theater, or...... well, I think you get the idea.

I stood in line for more than two hours to vote for Ronald Reagan in 1984. We were using those old fashioned voting machines that you punch the buttons to register your vote and it printed out how you voted. Two that were supposed to be delivered to our rural location didn't get there, and one of the three that were delivered broke down, so close to 2,000 people in that rural precinct who voted on election day had a pretty long wait. They did furnish chairs and benches for those who needed them though and let the very old and disabled go to the front of the line. I got to know a lot of my neighbors that day.

And there were zero people who were muttering voter suppression.

Yeah, I've stood outside in the cold and even sleet more than once and then there was another 45 minutes inside. Whoop dee doo. Less abled people can go right up front if they want; it's never a problem.

You just don't understand. If Democrats lose, there was vote suppression. If Democrats win there was vote suppression.

This is a lie.

“During the Jim Crow era, laws that looked neutral on their face were specifically designed to target Black voters. Today, legislators across the country are considering bills that will have the same effect. Nowhere is this more obvious than in Georgia, where last week, Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law an omnibus bill that targets Black voters with uncanny accuracy.

It’s now a crime in Georgia to give a bottle of water or a snack to people waiting in line to vote. We know that in Georgia and across the country, hours-long lines to vote are more often in Black and brown communities. Mobile voting (polling sites on wheels that travel to different set locations) is also now illegal in Georgia — a practice that has only been used in Fulton County, which has the largest Black population in the state. Ballot drop boxes must now be located inside early voting sites instead of other convenient locations, and many voters who plan to vote by mail must provide a driver’s license or state ID number.

These laws will disproportionately harm Black, brown, and Native American voters. Legislators tried to pass even more onerous laws — like canceling vote by mail but preserving it for the segment of the electorate that tilts white and more conservative — but faced a sustained and effective outcry.”

And other Republican-controlled states are enacting similar voter suppression measures.

It is a crime to approach people in line to pass out propaganda, bribe them to vote for somebody, or whatever. Electioneering at the polling sites has been illegal for a very long time now and people were getting around that by the pretense of 'humanitarian aid' to those in line. Lack of free water bottles has never in the history of the USA been considered voter suppression until now.

Unmonitored, unsupervised ballot drop boxes are a flagrant invitation for mischief and misuse. Chain of custody should be verifiable and strictly enforced to ensure the citizens that the vote is honest as it can possibly be.

And the Jim Crow laws have been ancient history for a very long time now too. And there is NOTHING in the Georgia law (or anybody else's laws) that even come close to being Jim Crow laws.

So again I ask. Who's vote exactly is being suppressed other than those who plan to cheat?
