Venezuela - The Next Step

Now that Dictator Maduro has seized complete and absolute power in Venezuela, much to the absolute delight of Leftist both there and in the US....the question becomes...."What's next"?

Thus far, the US has taken a relatively light stance on the events in Venezuela with little more than sanctions on individuals which really has no effect.

However, the Venezuela situation probably will take a very abrupt turn VERY soon.

Remember that Venezuela is one of the largest resources of oil in the world. Russia, China and Iran all know that. At this juncture, if Obama was still in Office, a Russian/Chinese alliance would already be in place and the dictatorship in Venezuela would already be backed by one or both.

With President Trump in office, China, Russia and Iran all must move a bit more cautiously. Surely Maduro has had contact with both and negotiated oil in exchange for backing.

I predict that in the coming weeks, these back room dealings will come to light and Russia and or China (most likely China given the investments they are already involved in in South America), but you can't rule out Russia as Putin knows the strategic value of having a stake in Venezuelan oil in the western hemisphere.

It's going to be interesting....but I place my bets on the announcement of Chinese or Russian intervention any day now. This will give Maduro a solid backing and stabilize the situation in Venezuela....even if it's at the loss of human rights and a dark day for freedom on the continent.

The flyball is the Organization of American States. Columbia, Brazil and most other South American countries probably do not want that. It would usher in a destabilizing shift in power.
Nicaragua and Argentina may not be so opposed.

Some interesting reading if interested.

Why can't you morons get your heads around the fact that Venezuela is a third world country?

that is a lie. It was a developing country before Chavez took over, and even after he did, the first decade or so at least.

It has fallen tho third world status due to the usual end game of whatever form of socialism they were/are using.

What was that you were saying Admiral Rockwell....Russia has no interest you said ???

Venezuela is increasingly turning to Russia for the cash and credit it needs to survive, offering oil assets in return. Alva French reports.

Name some Liberal Americans who support Maduro.

A much shorter list would be naming some who DON'T.

MOST Bernie Sanders supporters supported the Chavista and only recently have begun to see how ignorant they were. Yes, NOW they will deny it, of course. But true to nature, MANY still support Maduro and will stay with the ship as it sinks.

It's a third world shithole, we should just stay out of it.

Of course no matter what President Trump does or doesn't do, the left will howl.
If he intervenes in any way, he is a "warmonger" and exploiting them for oil.
If he does nothing and lets Russia move in, then he is "Putin's puppet".

17 Billion in loans and MAYBE SNAGGING ASSETS..............What's to stop them from doing the same thing they already did to foreign investors there..................Or perhaps now the oil rigs stolen by Venezuela can now be handed to Russia so they can change the lawsuits to the new Russian company.........They gave you stolen goods Ruskies.................LOL

Russians are opportunists, but I'd think even they don't want to get in the middle of that clusterfuck that going on in Venezuela. Maybe the Chinese, they're pretty smart and aren't having the problems Russia's having.
They are in the middle of the clusterfuck in Syria --- and it worked out in their favor....

Who should not be considering getting involved in it is the United States.

How to Get Venezuela’s Economy Going Again: A Conversation with Luis Enrique Gavazut

"To understand the Venezuelan economy, you must recognize that access to hard currency ultimately derives from one source only: the state.

"Historically, 95% of the hard currency revenues in Venezuela come from PDVSA, which is our country’s flagship corporation.

"The private sector does not generate hard currency, because the privately-owned part of the productive apparatus, at least the sector that is not based on oil or mining, is not oriented toward exports.

"When we look at the economic sectors that are geared to the immediate satisfaction of the society’s needs, we see that there are huge difficulties.

"Levels of production, already small before the crisis, are dropping very rapidly.

"Right now, the national economy is operating at 22% of its installed production capacity and imports have fallen by 80% in recent years, which explains the shortages that we are facing today."

Some of the current shortages in Venezuela are the result of capitalists hoarding food and other necessities, not the incompetence of public sector socialists.
