Vegas must see places?

Not in Vegas you can't, or if you can, I never found that bar.

The pricier casinos have higher limits on their tables and machines. Outside the slot machines I don't think there was anything at the Mandalay where you could bet less than $10. Right on the floor (as opposed to VIP rooms) they had $1000 tables. I'm sure places like the Bellagio/Mirage/Venetian are even more.

The Excalibur (looks like a big cheesy castle) had $5 tables for roulette, craps, blackjack, et cetera. They also had a bar near the sports section with $3.50 beers, which me and my buddy were double fisting all day Sunday 'cause we had already dropped too much on the tables and were sick of gambling. I'm sure there are other older casinos that might be even cheaper. Tropicana, places like that.

Sure you can drink for free playing nickle slots, but don't expect to see the waitress very often.

Things to see: The Luxor is cool just cause it's a pyramid, New York, New York has a roller coaster out front, the whole building looks cool too, theres a giant Eifel tower in front of Paris, the fountains in front of the Bellagio are cool, and did I mention Tatiana?

I'm not really a big gambler. (funny... someone who doesnt gamble going to Vegas). I'll probably end up spending the $3.50 (OMG!) and just go to the bar and buy myself a drink. I tend to get impatient when I'm empty :D My friend that's going with me is the one that wants to gamble, and she's only taking $100 to gamble on so I dont think we'll be spending any quality time inside the casino. I wont go near the tables.. the last I was in Atlantic City, I had to be physically drug away from the blackjack table by my ex-husband. If I go to Vegas unsupervised, it could get dangerous.

I'm mainly looking to go sightsee and hit the bars/club scenes at night. the only definites on my list so far is Hoover Dam and the Strip.

By the way.... anyone with strong muscle relaxers or other Valium type medication who would like to donate it to me for the flight trip out and back, I would very much appreciate it. :D

I just had to do another Holy HELL on the $3.50/bottle. My local bar has .50 draft beer. I can go to that bar with 5 bucks, get trashed, and come home with change.

I think im in for a culture shock.

you will be drunker than a skunk in no time because she will be around every fifteen minutes.

I won't laught at you, but 15 minutes?!? If it takes me 15 minutes to drink a beer it must be 7am and I'm ready for bed.

I almost pissed myself when I saw their 12oz bottles were only $3.50 I was so excited. Anywhere else was at least $6.50. Me and my buddy rode this transit car from the Mandalay Bay to the Excalibur, bought two a piece, walked thru the Excalibur/Luxor/Mandalay Bay drinking, then got back on the train to get more beer, all day long.

I'll show you what he looked like at the end of the day waiting for the shuttle to pick us up and head to the airport:

Haha that guy is blitzed!

Well admittedly i'm not a big beer guzzler, its not that I don't like beer cause' I love it! But given the choice i'm more of a cocktail or shot guy.

Yeah he was.

He wore that helmet all day. $6 at the Excalibur. I tried to get him to buy the giant battle axe but he wouldn't go for it.

"Next time," he says.

I have a picture somewhere of him just sreaming at other tourists. He was a viking you see, hahahaha.

Oh god, what a weekend.

I can't believe this. None of you people have told her how to get the "free" stuff. C'mooooooon. I used to go to the Horseshoe, sit and play quarter slots, "real slow", and get pretty damn liquored up for FREE! You DRINK for FREE when you GAMBLE! You can sit at a bar with the built in slots in front of you, and just as long as you have credits on that machine and play one once and awhile, you can drink for free there too.

And if you want to eat, I'd suggest hitting any of the better all you can eat buffet's. Circus Circus used to have a real good one. Look for the "deals". There's plenty of them still in town. You can even find them online. Even if money isn't an issue, I've never thought that gave one reason to be foolish with what they had.

Now keep in mind I'm talking over twenty years ago when I lived there, but I found some of the funnest bars in Vegas were the little road houses out on the fringes of town. There used to be a bar right outside of Nellis Air Force Base's main gate, (and that USED to be the EDGE OF TOWN), on north Las Vegas Boulavard called the 25 Club. They served the BEST hot chicken strips I've ever had in my life. What I'd do right now for an order of those....:p:

Whatever you do, if you're bored in Vegas, then you must be DEAD! Vegas is NOT a boring town.

Have fun, and just remember...

...what happens in Vegas... stay's in Vegas... :D

I actually knew when you were on the casino floor you drank for free. However I didnt know the same pertained to those little bar machines. I'll be the one to drop a dollar in the machine, and play 1 credit per hour. :D

My uncle told me there was a Steeler's bar out there somewhere (I'm a huge Steeler fan). He said the drinks were cheaper than anywhere else... I'll hit that up too.

No takers on the Valium, huh?

Hit the local casinos (SunCoast, Palace Station, Rampart, Arizona Charlies, etc.) for cheap drinks. Also, hit the happy hours. There are some good prices there.

As for playing at the bar, put in a $20 (or they can't comp you) but then just play one credit at a time or whatever while you drink and chat with your friend. Then, cash out (you never know, you might win, but if you play slow, you will likely only be down about $10 bucks which actually means you are up, since the drinks are free).

Plus, I am assuming you are young. So, go hang out at the center bar of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and I am sure you will have a lot of drinks bought for you!

Hey free.. (or anyone else who would know)....

Welcome back to the thread that just wont die. :smoke:

Has anyone ever checked out the Coyote Ugly bar in Vegas? I just found out they had one and wondered if it was worth checking out (the only thing I read on it was that it was in the New York, NY Hotel & Casino)

Hey Lil,
One thing I would recommend is taking the elevator to the observation deck on top of the Stratosphere . Go a little before sunset , you have a 360 degree view of the entire state from up there . When the sun goes down and the lights on the strip come on it is pretty special . bring a camera! Also , try to go to the shops in Caezer's Palace , they are all very high end like Armani and Porsche , but it is really nice what they did design wise and it is free and air conditioned! Same thing for the Venetian , it can be dark outside and you feel like you are walking around in Venice in the middle of the day .
OCA ,
I believe the golf couse you spoke of at the border is Primm Valley . Great couple of courses . We did the yardage book for the original one closest to the highway . They have since changed to a lesser book put out by some asswipes that have tried to copy our work . It is tough being the pioneers when everyone else starts plagiarizing your work for less money . I still need to tell you about my Masters experience . I am going to Bermuda next week to work on The Mid Ocean Club's book . . . yaaaaa!I will be shooting a bunch of photography so I will post a few when I return . Hope I have time to play a round .

Ha, someone opened a bar here recently, and on the sign it said something like "based off of Coyote Ugly", it's called "Ugly Stick", LMAO!!
Okay, I'm done, LOL.

Thanks for teh tip Sitarro... I'll put that on my list of "to do's". Im taking about 10 rolls of film for my 35 mm and my digital camera so i should have plenty of pics when I get back.

As far as Coyote Ugly... I'm gonna check it out. I dont think I'll be dancing on the bar (lol), but I know it's one of those things that I'll be pissed at myself if I come back home without at least going.

And you most CERTAINLY don't want to miss the HARLEY DAVIDSON CAFE!!

Two words you NEVER hear in Vegas..... "last call". You never see windows or a clock in Vegas bars either. They don't want you to know what time it is. They just want you to sit there and keep spending your money.
