Of course nothing will be done about this in tory britain. Everything costs more but the useless govt is on the side of corporations who donate to the tories. The people can go and fuck themselves.

The article suggests that the reason is unlimited liability for insurance providers for claims in Britain.

Maybe Charles needs to sign a royal edict allowing policies to be written than impose less of a burden on the insurance companies? Also, electric cars are a lot more expensive to repair, if your country has a lot more of these EV's, it makes it more expensive for insurers.

Lastly, UK drivers have the terrible habit of driving on the wrong side of the road in comparison to the European continent. That increases the number accidents and accident claims.

No. Its just a rip off.

So you don't have a solution? You just want auto insurers to leave the business in Britain?

My suggestions, like a royal decree forcing people to drive on the correct side of the road under penalty of being drawn as well as quartered and their heads being displayed at crossroads would actually help the issue of road safety.

Can you still buy a Vauxhall for less in France?

The solution is for the govt to investigate the business and then jail the profiteers.

I suspect that Tommy Tithead is omitting to tell us that people from his class are stealing more cars and organising more fake crashes to defraud the nice Insurance people.
And probably shipping stolen cars across the water to unwholesome garlic eaters who sell them cheap to the beloved immigrants who swarm into Froggy Land from north Africa .,

Because of EV's, UK insurance companies are one step of other countries. Plus France is France, the UK is the UK, the USA is the USA, Switzerland is Switzerland, Australia is Australia etc .. So each country does what's relevant in their country without giving a flying fuck about other countries.

Why do you think other countries should follow France?

Why, to your knowledge, is it that auto insurance is not provided by the same organization that provides registrations and licensing? This, made more strange by the requirement that insurance be had, just as licenses and registrations!

Why do you think that a government run monopoly for insurance would be better, cheaper or more efficient?

Why would one think that cropping out over-paid CEOs and stockholders would cause a product to cost more?

Because "over-paid" CEO's compete with others to reduce costs as well as compete on price.

A government agency that is a monopoly has no motivation to compete on price or reduce costs on staff through technological advances.

You're lucky to get insurance on a Range Rover in London because they cost a fortune and most get stolen. So insurance premiums are though the roof.

The other thing is, EV's. People are getting quoted thousands upon thousands because EV&s are a nightmare. So if you lump all premiums together, then insurance premiums have sky rocketed.

My diesel car is £150 per year fully comprehensive and protected no claims bonus, and the diesel 3.5 ton van £250 and likewise cover. Mine have actually come down after going beyond 55 yes of age.

And another group shoving premiums high are the youngsters. Government et. al. Are looking into ideas such as a new driver can't have passengers for the first number of years or after a certain time of day, restrictive engine size etc..

But Tommy Tit thinking it's down to profiteering just makes him look like a right tit

And your evidence of that is?

Oh, never mind. You're not actually a serious person
Payouts rise by 12%
Charges rise by 33%
Any reasonable person would look at that and see there was profiteering.
Its a clear sign that the market isnt working.
I suspect that the bosses of these companies meet in a darkened room every year and decide what they can steal from us.
