Just back from a week in the U.K.

Last night there – had dinner with a WONDERFUL couple (leg of lamb, veggies, potatoes, cheese, dessert – of course, Guiness – totally British!) and the topic of guns came up. I told our host how many guns I had in the house back in the States and he said, “Wait a minute…..”

He rushed upstairs to his hiding place and came back with a standard, WalMart issue pocket knife. He told me it’s illegal to have this – anything that “folds” is illegal. We are talking a basic pocket knife here.

I asked him – “What do you do if someone breaks in, attacks your wife, and you stab them with that thing?” He told me – he gets prison time, the attacker gets “Community Service.”

WTF???

I asked – can’t you protect yourself, inflict bodily harm? He says – nope. Have to attempt to restrain the intruders. Can’t injure/kill them –result=jail time.

Vote Obama. We’ll be at this level about 2 years into his next Commie term.

Unfreaking believable what the U.K. has become.

It is legal to own a firearm in the UK as long as you go through the proper processes. Oh, and your friend is wrong. You can own and buy pocket knives in the UK. Now, flick knives, they're a whole different issue...

He has an axe handle - in the kitchen closet
Not sure what good it'll do. If he maim's the guy he goes to prison - intruder gets "Community Service."

I don't think he's wrong/making up stories. You can buy CRACK in the UK I am sure - not too sure it's legal.

Regarding knives - Anything that "folds" knife-wise, is illegal. Fact.

guinness is irish

It flows in the UK. American "version" on tap is chilled....

maybe it is in whatever shit hole you drink in, but it doesn't change the fact that it's irish, not british.

I don't give a fuck if it's Polish, asswipe. I never said it was British. That's what I enjoyed every night in the pub. They even had Heineken and Budweiser, you half-bred assfucker. Tell us where they're from genius and why it means a shit.

I'm not saying he might be wrong or right. He is dead wrong. You can buy firearms in the UK as long as you go through the correct process and do not have a criminal conviction.

I also have a friend who owns a camping shop in London. They sell swiss army knives. Fact....

You can't buy firearms in the UK as you can here. Fact.
And what I mentioned earlier about "self defense" is a fact also.

Perhaps someday when you venture out of the trailer park and experience life outside the US, you'll find out first-hand, vs. what you read between masterbation sessions on the internet.

Thanks.

.

That is true. But that is not what the OP says or what you are trying to infer.

Perhaps someday when you venture out of the trailer park and experience life outside the US, you'll find out first-hand, vs. what you read between masterbation sessions on the internet.

And you are also wrong about self-defence.

Thanks.

1) I have lived in three different countries for extensive periods including the UK.
2) You going over there once for a 10-day drinking session doesn't make you an expert on the place...obviously....
3) This whole OP is to try and muster up support against Obama by trying to make out the UK is some sort of socialist utopia gone wrong and that is what Obama is trying to bring to the states. Yet again, you would be wrong. Your'e not very good at this are you Worrier...

3) Clearly not, dipshit. I am merely reporting facts in the UK. And at the rate the current regime is pushing anti-gun measures, this could be our dismal, pathetic future.

So, go fuck yourself.

Put your mouth back on Obama's ass now. You obviously get a "high" off of what he emits from his ass, vs. a cold Guiness.

Thanks.

Hi Warrior, Glad to hear you had a good time here! Sorry to say, but your friend is wrong on both the law as it relates to knives and the law as it relates to self defence.

Yes, certain knives are illegal, such as flick knives, combat knives etc, but pocket knives are quite legal. The law on knives states:

It is an offence for a person to manufacture, sell, hire or offer for sale or hire or expose or have in his possession for the purpose of sale or hire, or lend or give to any person:
A) any knife which has a blade which opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife, sometimes know as a ‘flick knife’ or ‘flick gun’; or
B) any knife which has a blade which is released from the handle or sheath thereof by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force and which, when released, is locked in place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other device, sometimes known as a ‘gravity knife’.

It is an offence for any person, without lawful authority or good reason, to have with him in a public place, any article which has a blade or is sharply pointed except for a folding pocket-knife which has a cutting edge to its blade not exceeding 3 inches

English Legislation

As for self-defence, the law permits one to act in ways that otherwise would be illegal to prevent injury to oneself or others. One is allowed to use reasonable force and wounding or even killing an attacker will not bring a prosecution if the force used is deemed reasonable. The following is an example of this:

A man who fatally stabbed a burglar at his home in Salford will not be prosecuted, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said.

Peter Flanagan, 59, who was confronted by machete-wielding intruders, "did what he believed necessary" to defend his home in Pendlebury, the CPS ruled.

John Bennell, 27, of Hyde, died following the stabbing on 22 June.

Three men from Greater Manchester, aged between 23 and 27, have been charged with aggravated burglary.

Nazir Afzal, chief crown prosecutor for the North West, said: "I am satisfied that Peter Flanagan acted in self defence after being woken by noises downstairs in his house shortly before midnight.

"On investigating the disturbance he was confronted by intruders, one of whom was armed with a machete."

He is mistaken. You are allowed to keep those kinds of knives, just not allowed to carry them in public. He is entitled to defend himself in his own home.

What does this even have to do with Obama?
