In a Republic, actually
The shocking decision by press secretary Sean Spicer to bar CNN, The New York Times, Buzzfeed, Politico and the Los Angeles Times from a news briefing Friday signals that, for all its bluster and bravado, the Trump White House is an administration under siege.

In the face of the President's many public misstatements, obvious financial conflicts of interest and troubling ties to Russia, the White House has decided to launch an all-out attack on the news organizations that reliably report on the administration's fables and foibles.

Expect to see the media close ranks and fight for the public's right to observe and report on government without fear of official retaliation. To their credit, the Associated Press and Time walked out of Spicer's briefing when it became clear he was trying to punish selected news outlets.

As any seasoned reporter knows, [Trump’s] squealing, with pointless insults, is the sound made by politicians when the truth makes them feel cornered and uncomfortable. Their bleating, in fact, signals that it's time to turn up the heat.

And that is what will happen. In the Trump presidency, there are too many financial conflicts of interest to ignore, and White House efforts to spin or suppress coverage of Russian meddling in our elections is backfiring.'

The American people will likewise not tolerate Trump’s unwarranted attacks on freedom of the press.

How is he attacking the press? Because he barred several and let others in?

Be honest. It's not that hard.

We understand that you lefties miss the good old days, when republicans didn't fight back.

You're the same clown who predicted "an easy win for hiLIARy".

If you think I support the NYT BS or the CNN BS and I am going to run out there and defend them..........you could not be further from the truth. That isn't what journalism is...............and I will not defend them.

C. Clayton Jones must have the very smallest ratio of original words to copy and paste words in this entire forum.

When one is absolutely incapable as so much as one original thought, just try to dazzle them with other people's words, I guess.

Trump is on record now about the Press.

The media have played him perfectly since the election.

this isn't fake news, it's imaginary news...supplant "media" for "democrats" and you have the same story with a tad more honesty

Trump has controlled the vast majority of the narrative since the day he announced his candidacy in June '15. That's putting the cart before the horse to the lefty media cabal that believes they're the sole gatekeepers/filters of the news as they want it presented to the unwashed masses, so thus they treat a minor, temporary, wrist-slap banning as the downfall of freedom of the press in America.

It's the incessant unfounded media attacks that have backfired to date and I suspect a lot more of it's coming as they've yet to figure out they're a big part of why folks support president Trump. Shhhh...don't say anything though.

Considering the press willfully gave away their spine for the past 8 years when it came to the previous President, their current bravdo is both comical, and sad.

Either they need to admit they are taking sides, or actually try to be impartial. If not, their stock will continue to fall with people who are just not buying it anymore.

Trump is on record now about the Press.

The media have played him perfectly since the election.

Then why are they being such whiny bitches about it?

They have lost control of the narrative, and Trump isn't about to give it back.

That is your unfounded opinion, nothing else.

Let's see what happiness is in store for Donald this week, shall we?

The press lost its protection and status when it switched from journalism to rags and media outlets spewing propaganda. This has been ongoing for years but is at the point of ridiculousness.

Sure, the rest of them will close ranks, but not out of some sense of journalistic integrity, or belief in the constitution, but in defense of their own power.

Fuck them. Get away from this sensationalist model designed to draw advertising revenues and get back to being unbiased journalists and maybe they'll recapture their some of their status and be worthy of the protections they've been given.

in response to your unfounded opinion.

But keep up with your delusions, it makes our job of relegating you idiots to the background so much easier.

It's almost funny how the leftist true believers don't believe it was a media actively colluding with a political candidate to get her elected that is the problem, here. It's the candidate they were conspiring to prevent from being elected.

The minute that people see that what actually happens and what is reported to happen by these news companies is the minute the people no longer trust them. They are basically selling a bad product to their customers. BTW, I fully agree that fox news can be just as untruthful as CNN but at least Fox news doesn't sound like a bunch of self-rightious idiots who thinks everyone else lies but them.
