Trump Shows Why Tax Evasion Shouldn't Be Ilegal

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Apparently the OP has no clue about the record number of Obama pardons.
The crimes committed were not just tax evasion, extortion, bribery, conspiracy... but even violent crimes. And one helped organize a terrorist organization.

Clemency Initiative

On April 23, 2014, former Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole announced the Department's initiative to encourage qualified federal inmates to petition to have their sentences commuted, or reduced, by the President of the United States. The program came to an end when President Obama left office on January 20, 2017.

Under the initiative, the Department prioritized clemency applications from inmates who met most, if not all of the following factors:

  • They are currently serving a federal sentence in prison and, by operation of law, likely would have received a substantially lower sentence if convicted of the same offense(s) today;
  • They are non-violent, low-level offenders without significant ties to large scale criminal organizations, gangs or cartels;
  • They have served at least 10 years of their prison sentence;
  • They do not have a significant criminal history;
  • They have demonstrated good conduct in prison; and
  • They have no history of violence prior to or during their current term of imprisonment.
Read more about who is qualified to apply for commutation under the new criteria.

Clemency Initiative

You have a point?

I stated it. Who is this one??

And one helped organize a terrorist organization.

You stated nothing.
You copied and pasted some article.
Ever hear of Oscar Lopez Rivera?
So much for non violent. So much for no ties to criminal organizations.
And I fully expect you will copy-n-paste a PARTIAL article about how this guy is comparable to Neslson Mandela or Mother Theresa.
He was not.

Trump pardons: Blagojevich, Kerik, Milkin among those who got clemency

The common theme in many of the big name pardons Trump issued this week was some sort of tax evasion or financial corruption -- and how the people convicted of these crimes shouldn't have been -- or as Trump said -- them being sentenced to prison was absolutely ridiculous...

Let's take Paul Pouge…."Pogue, the owner of a Texas construction company, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison in 2010 for filing a false federal tax return. Authorities said Pogue underreported his income on his tax returns for three years." <<-- Big fucking deal, should he have went to prison for it?? Nope...Another pardon was Bernie Kerik who also committed tax fraud, again, big deal.....

Or how about Judith Negron -- who took a principled stand against Medicare...."Negron, the owner of a Miami-area mental health company, was sentenced in 2011 to 35 years in prison for orchestrating a $205 million Medicare fraud scheme. She has served eight years of her sentence." <<-- Big fucking deal, Medicare is communism -- so kudos to Judith for fleecing 205 million out of the government...if Medicare was ran by free markets, there wouldn't have been any fraud....

I think that tax fraud or tax evasion should be legal if the tax evasion is over a certain amount....Now if you are some thug or welfare queen committing some type of welfare fraud, worth possibly hundreds of dollars in taxpayer money -- they are the ones who need to serve years in prison -- but if you are a well-to-do person who is committing tax evasion and you can show that it is because of your libertarian philosophies about taxation being theft -- then you should be allowed to commit as much tax evasion and government fraud as you want....

I hope Trump pardons more tax evaders to reinforce the message that taxation is theft, nobody (especially job creators) should have to pay taxes...that is the best way to shrink government until it is small enough to drown in a bath tub...This will stimulate financial growth, this will help our free markets become much more free and just encourage freedom overall...It is always best to let free markets do the regulation, let free markets handle the courts, let free markets handle property rights, labor rights, etc..
You must have been furious when Bill Clinton pardoned Mark Rich. Rich evaded 48 million in taxes.

Presidents should only pardon if new evidence surfaced and showed they were innocent.
Otherwise, presidents parson/commute people like Oscar Lopez Rivera on their last 3 days in office like obama did.
But lets just bitch for the sake of partisanship. Because domestic terrorism isnt as bad as lying to keep more of YOUR money.
well non violent crime isn't supposed to produce jail time anymore. the demofks are running on that. why is everyone in this thread so upset?

FALN Pardons of 1999[edit]
On August 11, 1999, U.S. President Bill Clinton offered conditional clemency to sixteen members of the FALN convicted for conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to bomb-making, and sedition, as well as for firearms and explosives violations.[11] None of the sixteen were convicted of bombings or any crime which injured another person, and all of the sixteen had served nineteen years or longer in prison, which was a longer sentence than such crimes typically received, according to the White House.[12] Clinton offered clemency, on condition that the prisoners renounce violence, at the appeal of 10 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, President Jimmy Carter, the Archbishop of New York, and the Archbishop of Puerto Rico. The commutation was opposed by U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons and criticised by many including former victims of FALN terrorist activities, the Fraternal Order of Police,[13] and members of Congress. Hillary Clinton in her campaign for Senator also criticised the commutation, although she had earlier been supportive.[3][14][15]

The activist Oscar López Rivera rejected the 1999 Clinton pardon. U.S. president Barack Obama later commuted his sentence, and López Rivera was released in May 2017, after 36 years in prison. He had been incarcerated longer than any other member of the FALN.

TN, if new evidence surfaced and showed they were innocent, they wouldn't need to be pardoned. I agree with you though that Presidents ought to stay out of court business.
I don't necessarily have a problem with it.
Usually the pardons have a basis of reason.
In the case of Blagojevich, the guy is a sleazeball. And unfortunately typical of Chicago politics. Right there with many others over 100 years. The guy deserved to go to jail. But not what he was sentenced. It was payback, and certainly politically motivated by others.
Commuting his sentence was right. And would not have happened without it.
He pardoned Blago because he was on Trump's show -- and Trump probably knew he would prostrate himself for Trump.....

Which is basically at the heart of everything he does....

The FALN pardons were all violent people. Lopez Rivera refused to denounce violence against America, and refused to commit to a statement of no more violence, and was therefore kept in prison.
Obama gave him clemency with no strings attached. Despite he was involved in 100's of bombings, holding Americans hostage at gun point and making bombs in his Chicago apartment.
The man was a mass murderer. PERIOD
And Obama pardoned him.

he has never showed his taxes, and went to court to sue against showing them.

No, because I read what your cult leader said about it....but since you don't read much, I will educate you...

"Trump expressed some sympathy for Blagojevich when he appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2010, before his first corruption trial started -- he praised him for how he was fighting his criminal case, telling him, “You have a hell of a lot of guts.” Trump made clear that he saw similarities between efforts to investigate his own conduct and those who took down Blagojevich."

Rod Blagojevich, freed by Trump commutation, leaves Colorado prison, returns to Illinois

The funny part is Blago saying "he learned how unfair the criminal justice system can be during his time in prison, especially for people of color."

Personally, if Blago was never on his show and if he wasn't still butt hurt himself about being investigated by Comey -- he would have never have pardoned Blago…

Also....if it was Obama who pardoned Blago -- you dic suckers would be outraged..

And I said why.
In 1999, Lopez refused to denounce his past violence nor would he commit to never do any other act of violence against America. So his clemency was denied.
Obama gave him clemency with no strings attached.
He should have stayed in jail for life. Why not??
He was involved in 100's of bombings/kidnapping/taking hostages - there was no reason to ever release him.

again, these fks need a civic's class. And they should speak up more when their party does what they don't like.

President Trump is showing he will commute sentences that are just too much for the crime committed, regardless of political affiliation. So when he commutes Roger Stone the left won’t have a leg to stand on when they start howling about it.
