Donald Trump rattles Republicans with plan to rack up debt

While short on details, Mr. Trump has said he would like to spend at least $500 billion on infrastructure, twice as much as Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. He also proposes to raise spending for the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments even as he cuts tax rates, sapping revenue in the near term.

Asked how he would fund his plan, the billionaire businessman told CNBC that he would go into debt.

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former director of the CBO who is now president of the American Action Forum, said spending might boost the economy if it’s in recession, but the U.S. is close to full employment, so there is not a lot to reduce. And the federal government will eventually have to pay off the debts.

“Borrowing is the same as having taxes higher in the future,” he said.

Mmmm, yum. More flip flop? This one with money sauce paid by the middle class and their children. Good Old GOP strategy.

Assuming he would win, he'd run up the debt throughout his term, then leave it to the next Pres to pay off the debt.

Just like Dubya/Cheney did to Obama.

And Obama of course would have never done such a thing!

What else can you do? No matter who gets in will have to borrow.

He's just been upfront about it and said he will spend it on America.

Do you really believe that this is true?
but the U.S. is close to full employment,

but the U.S. is close to full employment,

Hahaha! Yeah with over 94 million Americans not working. That's "full employment" in the Democrat world!

When President Obama took office in January 2009, 80,529,000 Americans were not participating in the labor force; since then, 14,179,000 Americans have left the workforce -- some of them retiring and some just quitting because they can't find work.

Record 94,708,000 Americans Not in Labor Force; Participation Rate Drops in May

I don't give a fuck! If he is for investing in our country that is a reason why he isn't as bad as his party.
Trump's idea is that cutting taxes on the rich will give them money to create jobs. Only it didn't happen when Bush did it. Republicans helped send millions of jobs overseas and close over 42,000 factories.

I have absolutely no idea where you've gotten that lie but for anyone who knows the population of America knows that 4.9% unemployment rate doesn't equate to nearly one third of our population being unemployed.

Our population is over 300 million. So 94 million would be nearly one third of the population. If one third of the population was unemployed, we would be in not just a nation wide deep depression but a world wide one.

To give you perspective during the last republican great depression the unemployment rate went up to 24.9%.

I believe the official numbers. Which is that unemployment is at 4.9% with 7.8 million unemployed.

Why are you saying that? You know only a stupid fuck would believe such nonsense? Are you a stupid fuck?

Ted Cruz says 92 million Americans aren't working
None

Of the 101.7 million people who are not employed, 37.5 million are age 65 and over -- an age when Medicare kicks in and many Americans head into retirement. Another 11.9 million are between 16 and 19, meaning they’re either high-school-age or starting college. And another 8 million are age 20 to 24, when many are in college or graduate school.

Still, we don’t see much justification for Cruz counting high-school-age kids (roughly 10 million) and Americans 75 and up (17.6 million). Even this far more restrictive definition leaves almost one-third of Cruz’s number questionable.

Another point worth noting: Just because someone in the prime working-age range (25 to 64) isn’t working doesn’t mean that they are unemployed. They may be disabled, taking care of children full-time or have gone back to school. The actual number of officially unemployed Americans in January was a little under 9 million -- just one-tenth of the figure Cruz cited as "not working."

See? Now don't you feel foolish for repeating dumbfuckery?

It's GOP dumbfuckery. I explained it in a previous comment. The GOP willingness to believe dumbfuckery is astounding.

Employment Situation Summary

Let's break it down simply. In July, there were 253,620,000 people in the U.S. age 16 or older, who were not active duty military, not in prison, and not in an institution (mental hospital, nursing home, etc)
160,705,000 either worked in mid-July or had looked for work from mid-June to mid-July. That's the Labor Force: 63.4% of the population. 152,437,000 worked, 8,267,000 unsuccessfully looked for work. So 60.1% of the population worked and 5.1% of the Labor Force was not working. Adjusting for normal seasonal variations (employment ALWAYS goes down in July), the official rate was 4.9%
92,916,000 neither worked nor looked for work. 86,672,000 did not want a job in July, and 6,244,000 said they wanted a job but were not currently doing anything about it.
