I read about this and had to laugh at the sheer stupidity of it. By now, most households have upgraded to LED bulbs because they are superior in pretty much every single way. Incandescents aren't staging a comeback. CFLs are even on their way to extinction. So, who the fuck is this 'roll back' going to benefit? Old people? People who hate saving money on their electric bills? Dumb.

The purchase price of incandescent bulbs is lower, even though longer life and lower cost of operation makes the new style much cheaper in the long run. Just another example of how everything seems to be rigged to cost the poor more to survive than the well off.

It may seem that way because of price point, but it's really not.

CFL bulb energy cost over 20 years: $54
LED bulb energy cost over 20 years: $34

LEDs use 75% less energy. This seems like a no-brainer, no matter what economic class you belong to.

I have all LED lights in my house except for a couple of light fixtures that I use those cool old fashioned looking incandescent bulbs that are still available.

I like the light from the incandescent bulbs because it's warmer and responds to a dimmer better.

Sometimes newer isn't better.

I prefer older tube amps over the new solid state ones because they just sound better.

Conservatives are always ready to cry "freedom" when there's buck to be made by using the most inefficient choices. Liberals don't want to give up modern conveniences. They just want to have their modern life and reduce the impact on the environment. A country clever enough to put a man on the moon should be able to do that, but there will be economic casualties in the move to the 21st Century economy.
