Trump and Presidential Immunity

Giving Trump immunity to shield him from anything he may have done during the Presidency will turn any office holder in the future into a dictator.
Um presidents already have immunity for what they do in office.

MAGA have shit all over and ignored that law, tradition, and rule of America.

SCOTUS will punt it to the Appeals Court for DC, which will rule by the middle of January.

They will opine that he has no immunity, and Trump will appeal within 45 days of that ruling
No! Joe has shit all over himself and his diaper, get it right! :adoreheart:

They have immunity while in office. The only test cases were Nixon and Clinton. Nixon was given a full Pardon by Ford after leaving office. There was some discussion that the Pardon wouldn’t hold up, but nobody was ready to test that with the Courts. The power of the Presidential Pardon is well known and clearly listed in the Constitution.

The second case is Clinton. Bill worked out a plea deal before leaving office. It ended any possibility of prosecution.

The only other case I know of, and I readily admit I don’t know everything. The only other is Vice President Rockefeller. He worked out a plea deal which included his surrendering the office of Vice President.

Now. None of them were prosecuted, but all of them took steps that clearly showed that prosecution was possible. In two cases there were plea deals before leaving office.

So I’d say that blanket immunity for all time is not a thing. While in office. Yes. Afterwards? No.

And civil litigation

And things that maybe criminal even after they leave office

If not obama would be charged with murder for all the people he killed with drones

Not so much regarding that and Obama. Every President has ordered military action. And every President conducts such action as part of his Constitutional duty as Commander in Chief.

It was never the intent of the Founders to make a President equal to a King. Kings answer only to God. Presidents answer to men.

You gotta love how selective and Hypocritical trump and his cult are when it comes to so called presidential immunity.
Trump and his cult claim that he is completely immune from prosecution for any and all crimes He may have committed while serving his president, effectively saying that as President Trump was above the law and could do whatever he wanted without consequence. But then turn around and completely disregard the fact that if this were true, it would apply to all sitting presidents. They think that trump should be immune from prosecution, But they would never consider that A president that they don't like would also have that immunity. They think that it should apply only to presidents they personally support.

Yes and they are immune from being charged with crimes for their acts as president

No. I covered that in another reply. The people who were accused of crimes while serving all managed it one way or another. Nixon was pardoned by Ford. Clinton had a plea deal signed and accepted before he left office. And the only other example is Rockefeller who resigned as part of a plea deal. He was Vice President but still somewhat related.

So why would Nixon need a pardon? Why would Clinton need a plea deal?

According to some, immunity should prevent Trump from being prosecuted. Trump's lawyers are seeking a judgement in their favor from the Supreme Court, where Gorsuch, Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, and Barrett are seated. This could be a game changer.

---Former President Trump's legal team has filed its written response to Special Counsel Jack Smith's request that the U.S. Supreme Court hear Trump’s immunity claims in the election interference criminal case against him---

There is no such thing as presidential immunity. Never has been. If the right make it, the US is going to fail.

The 4th circuit court of appeals is called the rocket docket for a reason. Trump will not get his immunity ruling, and the case will start in the summer during his campaign.

The persecution continues.
