Top 10 Movies of All Time: The Definitive List

My pre-1950 list:

Make Way for Tomorrow (1937)
Impact (1949)
The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946)
Ruggles of Red Gap (1935)
Make Me a Star (1932)
Intruder in the Dust (1949)
The General (1926)
The Green Promise (1949)
Looking Forward (1933)
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936)

1. The Godfather
2. Casablanca
3. Wizard of Oz
4. Cool hand Luke
5. The Great Santini
6. Princess Bride
7. Young Frankenstein
8. Shawshank redemption
9. Of mice and Men
10. On the Waterfront

Maybe not all ten, but nonetheless:
1. Leviathan (Zvyagintsev)
2. The Godfather (Copolla)
3. The Return (Zvyagintsev)
4. Cast away (Zemeckis).
5. Come and see (Klimov)
6. City lights (Chaplin).
7. The citizen Kane (Welles).
---
that is without thinking too much.

And maybe some characteristics:
1. It is about the character and the will of living. What the one should face when has all his connections with the society and "normal living" cut off. What would be your answer to abyss(Leviathan)?
2. Everybody seen... The movie about fortitude and responsibility. Real men's movie.
3. Again about people's peronality and maturing.
4. Same thing about hard times in everybody's life.
5. Simply the best movie about war.
6. Best melodrama.
7. Good thinking about wealth and its influence on mind.

Leviathan is good, but not amazing. I wouldn't put any of those in the top ten.

I also think it's about the mood you are in when you watch the film. If you're in the wrong mood, the film won't take you so easily.
i haven't seen other movies which emphasize the same idea as leviathan does. And this idea i consider as very important in living.
I rate movies not by mood, but by thoughts after watching.

She survived the Titanic , and the moral of the story is ... fight hard and love is the most important thing in life..There is a museum in Boulder now.

yes, Zvyagintsev is the russian director.

so, topic starter, now you have enough choice to make up a vote, don't you? Or simply summarize other's rankins and show up results.

I agree. A poll would be interesting! (as long as you include at LEAST one of mine!!!) :)
