Tomb of 'Santa Claus' is FOUND: Burial spot of Saint Nicholas who died more than 1,600 years ago is discovered underneath a church in Turkey.

Archaeologists have found the tomb of Saint Nicholas underneath a Byzantine church in Turkey.

The church was built on top of the foundation of a previous basilica that was destroyed in the Middle Ages by rising sea levels in the Mediterranean.

Experts conducted work at the site in 2017 when they found gaps under the newer church's floor and spent the past few years carefully removing the mosaic flooring to reveal the ancient foundation.

Saint Nicholas, who lived between 270 and 343, is most famous for inheriting money that he gave away to the poor and is the inspiration behind the holiday story of Santa Clause.

Wait one.....Rising sea levels?.....Where's all that water now?

LOL....So a round of "climate change" was brought on by medieval man.....Do tell.

Must been all those plague bodies being burned.

Still and all it's a damn shame some tweeker dug a hole in the middle of it. ;)

But he's probably not there though. Part of him is in Bari. They robbed his grave.

So, HOW do they know its Santy Clause?
Was he put in a mosoleum with 8 reindeer carcasses?

I was just wondering exactly the same thing lol but they probably at least found tiny skeletons with pointy hats and pointy shoes at the very least to clarify the jolly old man's identity at the very least. He was probably also buried next to the Easter Bunny.

I am not sure the scales, but it can be easily explained through geology.

Yes, there has been sea level rise pretty consistently for the last 14 kya or so. But there is also subduction going on where the Anatolian Plate meets the Eurasian plate. That is when crust on one plate is pushed below another plate. And that causes lifting of the plate that the other is sinking under.

Lifting of the region has been recorded for thousands of years now, and this is also proven in the large number of earthquakes the region experiences. It is the exact same process that made the Cascade and Rocky Mountain range in the US.

So it is very likely that it could have been become submerged or partially submerged, only for later to rise higher because of tectonic activity.
