Told Ya' America Was A Center-Right Nation

Looks like most folks have made their choice.

WTF were they doing the second Tuesday, November 2008?

They were weary of a President who disappointed them by failure to exercise fiscal responsibility, who veered left on energy and immigration policies, and who expanded the size, role, and scope of government. And so they ignored the track record and instead chose to believe a guy who campaigned on promises of honesty, transparency, fiscal responsibility, and integrity.

Well the guy they were weary of is not absolved of his sins, but he is starting to look better than he did when compared to what we have now. This new guy is unbelievable, clueless, and hopelessly disingenuous about almost everything he campaigned on. He is unacceptable to those who value personal freedom and self determination.

I hope by November we are focused on electing people who not only talk the talk, but have demonstrated that they will walk the walk.

"Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll.

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government's become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree.

The survey indicates a partisan divide on the question: only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans."

Those on the right believe Government based on 1. consent of the governed, 2. limited government…limited in purpose, but not weak: powerful in protecting rights, 3. responsible Constitutionalism: the government is responsible to the people, not responsible for them. (should not take on too many jobs.)

For those on the left, the government must become the Administrative State, involved in every aspect of our lives.

Looks like most folks have made their choice.

Simple question....if this country is center right..how did Obama win? Not only win but electorally, it was a landslide.

Explain that little fact.

The country has always been center-right, made up of good people who are the most charitable on the face of the earth.

They gave the guy the benefit of the doubt.

He proved to be, not an empty suit, but a chalk outline.

And his election proved once again the duplicity and supreme ignorance of the MSM and the self anointed elites.

Don't expect the same result again.

Clear?

Go ahead, pummel that straw man! Go get 'em!

Just curious, how many times a day do you ask yourself “Why am I so lonely?”

I DO pummel the straw (wo)man...YOU...

Your question is simple obfuscation...

A State without the means of some change is without the means of its conservation.
Edmund Burke

This has been almost as much fun as watching you do a face plant.

I guess retention is not your strong suit...

He promised to govern center right. And people were so desperate to believe him that they ignored all the evidence against that probability.

You mean politicians that demonstrated that they not only talk the talk but walk the walk like Scott Brown?

LOL!!

Amazing what you miss when you don't check the news for a year.

You do realize that there isn't a national election every year, right?

You do realize that political polls are generally reported on a three day rolling average, don't you?

See what you learn when you visit the USMB?

Well, it would be very enlightening, except for one small detail:

Political Polls don't count, Elections do count.

As far as I'm concered, taking the temperature of The Electorate on a "three day rolling average" makes about as much sense as measuring the grass growth on my lawn every week since November so I can get ready to mow it in June.

But, if it entertains you, have at it. I also have some shiny objects you can play with if that gets boring.

One can always find some quote out of context, why, I'll bet some archivist could find a quote stating how bright you are.

Now, check this out:

During WW I, under the Progressive Woodrow Wilson, American was a fascist nation.
1. Had the world’s first modern propaganda ministry
2. Political prisoners by the thousands were harassed, beaten, spied upon and thrown in jail for simply expressing private opinions.
3. The national leader accused foreigners and immigrants of injecting treasonous ‘poison’ into the American bloodstream
4. Newspapers and magazines were closed for criticizing the government
5. Almost 100,000 government propaganda agents were sent out to whip up support for the regime and the war
6. College professors imposed loyalty oaths on their colleagues
7. Nearly a quarter million ‘goons’ were given legal authority to beat and intimidate ‘slackers’ and dissenters
8. Leading artists and writers dedicated their work to proselytizing for the government.

I guess that proves it: one of us looks backward, one of us forward.

Now, you be careful walking that way: This is where you go from action to traction.

We'll have to see if Scott Brown walks the walk won't we. He may have just been the lesser of two evils? The voters could be pretty darn sure that their other choice was a liberal Democrat as looney tunes as the President when it comes to personal freedoms and fiscal responsibility.

Scott Brown hasn't had enough time in the Senate to make any kind of evaluation of whether he'll walk the walk yet. I wouldn't have voted for him if he was running against a pure conservative, but I sure would have voted for him instead of his opponent.

President Obama had a long enough track record now that we know he can't be trusted to walk the walk, and the independents and conservatives who voted for him did so because they chose to believe what he said rather than what he had done. I don't think they'll be making that same mistake come 2012, and I hope they're watching what they're doing in 2010 too.

I'm not moving anywhere.

I'm watching you trot in a tiny little circle every three days and calling it "looking forward."

I know you like the fight as much as I do, but, for real, did you support this guy?

'Cause I want to know if this argument is academic or can I get a good laugh about your choice?

I hope, I hope, I hope you did!!

One can always find some far right wing 'think tank' that will commit character assassination and revisionist history on anyone from the Democratic Party with NO sense of moderation, balance or 'context'...it's called PROPAGANDA...It is YOUR specialty.

Intelligent people read TO gain knowledge. You already KNOW, so all you seek is ammunition.

You are by FAR the most obtuse and at the same time vial and evil minded person I've encountered on any board. Your ignorance is deep and voluminous...but it still IS ignorance.

Fortunately then we are going to see a complete renewing of the house and a 1/3 fresh blood in the senate come November. Past time for some new real leadership that is not corrupt or bought and paid for.

The arguement is not about supporting or not supporting "this guy."

My arguement is that the only "poll" that counts happens on election day, and that dwelling on which way the wind blows between these days might be academically satisfying, but has little to do with reality.

Again, I wonder at why this wasn't clear November 2008?

The Federal Government is essentially the same today as it was a year ago, unless we admit that Obama is the most dynamic Executive ever to inhabit the White House.
