Why else would he spend so much attacking the conservatives in the race yet leave Romney almost unscathed?

You obviously don't know the economics and legal ramifications of the illicit marijuana market, either. Legalize it and the cartels stop making their BILLIONS in profit, the government takes the majority of that profit in taxes and the retail price drops by about 30%.

With almost half of the population smoking pot now, government interference in our lives through law enforcement, courts, prisons, etc. is about as pervasive as it can get. Legalization would allow otherwise law-abiding citizens to go about their business WITHOUT all that government interference.

I think Rand Paul is just being a realist. It's a Two-Party System. That's just reality. What are our choices? I know most loyal Ron Paul supporters believe in an 'all or nothing' approach, but that's not always the wisest approach. I've listened and read Rand Paul's explanation, and i understand what he's saying. He's a bit different than his Father on style & approach. He's not as rigid and unwilling to compromise. Now i do greatly admire his Father for his strength & resolve, but an 'all or nothing' approach probably wont change things much.

Rand Paul is trying to change things from the inside. If you have any doubts about him, just look at his voting record and sponsored Legislation. He's been a real Hero in the Senate as far as i'm concerned. Him and his Dad were some of the very few to really fight the Patriot Act and NDAA. So i'm willing to give him a break on this one. He's not his Father's clone. There are differences between the two. But then again, what Father & Son do agree on everything?

Someone could have one joint and not get high. Regardless, who wants them to make a department or tax drugs or pay for treatment of people who hurt themselves by using drugs? Nobody. Even with all of that, however, there's the moral aspect that every person inherently owns their own body. If they want to pollute it with drugs and alcohol nobody, not even the government, has the right to stop them.
