the TARP is working?

yes too bad carter and clinton signed the lending dergulation into law .... and that the dem majority congress elected 2006 did nothing as well ..... pity the president doesn't write laws....

Carter didn't sign lending deregulation and the deregulation signed by Clinton was heavily pushed by congressional Republicans.

so carter had nothing to do with changing the regulation rules on the federal reserve and altering the new deal restrictions.....interesting....no one put a gun to clinton's head he could have vetod it.....

my point contiues to be both parites dug this hole .... and neither did anything to change it till it failed....and yet ....they keep getting elected...

Even if Clinton had vetoed the bill, it would have simply been overridden (the bill had enough Democrats supporting it to get two-thirds).

so the republicans put for a bill on deregulation of the lending crowd which the dems back and clinton signs into law.....and yet some how we let one part of the hook and hang the other one when it fact it was both and neither did anything to change it once it started to come off the rails and then we go and vote them all in again and have fiath they can get us out of the mess they got us into....

ok....

Except that your original contention wasn't that both parties were at fault. It was blaming Democrats and, by extension, absolving the Republicans.

"yes too bad carter and clinton signed the lending dergulation into law .... and that the dem majority congress elected 2006 did nothing as well ..... pity the president doesn't write laws...."

Your words.

The deregulation could have been reversed and or new laws could have been put in place to avert this problem.

The states TRIED to do it and were thwarted by a entirely R government.

Why did the entirely R government stop ALL 50 governers from protecting their people?

the entierly republican government......give me a break the dems controled congress for 2 years....bush never vetoed anything....besdies...wasn't poor people buying homes a good thing.....wasn't union labor being full employed a good thing.....
think of when the crash started. By the time the Dems had a majority the bomb had already exploded. Yes having poor people buying homes is a good thing. This mess was caused by fraud on the part of the banks as well as mismanagement of their industry. The Unions had nothing to do with this.
do you really want people to have to meet strict lending laws and not be able to get a home loan....
You cant say that and have any real understanding what happend and how to fix this. The legislation would be aimed at the Banking and lending industry and not the buyers.
i really hate tose pubs for filing lawsuits to make banks lend to underqualified home buyers....
Again you can pretend what you want to about this mess but you only look like a fool continueing the spout right wing talking points about its cause.
the bastards....

The party of deregulation is the Republican party.

That is a fact.

Deregulation opened the doors to the speculation on mortgages that fueled this entire mess.

That is a fact.

History has repeted its self and Republican deregulation has crashed the economy for the second time in in a lifetime.

Your ideas are toast.

like i siad shame on those republicans for helping people buy homes and for employing all those union carpenters to build those homes.....if only carter and clinton had not signed those evil laws into law....but hey what could they do the republicans tricked them....and then blocked anything the dems tried to do.....

thank god obama took controll and passed all the new laws preveting poor people form buying homes and preventing the banks from giving money to people that can't afford it and and that they gave the money to the banks.....
