Since I first heard of it, I thought it was a long standing African celebration of the holiday season and the coming of the new year that finally took hold in the US as a result of the successes within the civil rights movement. This article says it was created in 1965 by one of our black citizens.

The Shocking Truth About Kwanzaa: It is a Scam Created by a Racist Con Man, Rapist and Torturer

As most of America prepares to celebrate the Christmas holiday, some have been fooled into turning their back on our traditional celebrations to instead take up the banner for the fake ”holiday” known as Kwanzaa.

Some may feel it is no big deal to tout “African culture” by celebrating Kwanzaa, but few know the real history of this scam holiday.

Far from being a reason to celebrate, Kwanzaa is, in fact, a racist holiday created by a rapist and torturer who has often posed as a “university professor.” This purported “African” holiday celebrated only in the United States, is the ultimate politically correct holiday. It is little observed, even by our own African American community, of course, but those that do celebrate it are wholly unaware that this faux holiday was created in 1965 by a man with a very troubled past. For Kwanzaa’s creator, Maulana Karenga, has a violent, racist criminal record, and is even a convicted rapist who tortured his victims.

Even though I have no problem with Christmas, Hanukkah, or even Festivus (especially Festivus), and even though Kwanza is kinda retarded, you have to admit that at least Kwanza is not based on fairy tales.

:dunno:

The fact that the holiday was invented by a man with a checkered past, does not make it a "fake holiday". You have only to look at the outright theft of many holiday traditions and symbols the Christians use to represent Xmas to see the origin is not as important as how and why it is celebrated.

Kwanzaa is celebrated over 7 days. Each day represents a different principle.

"Each of the seven days of Kwanzaa is dedicated to one of the following principles, as follows:[9]
  • Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.
  • Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): To define and name ourselves, as well as to create and speak for ourselves.
  • Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems and to solve them together.
  • Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics): To build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together.
  • Nia (Purpose): To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
  • Kuumba (Creativity): To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.
  • Imani (Faith): To believe with all our hearts in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle."
I fail to see a reason to demean any of those principles.

Your conclusion is right on. After all, Mohammed, who was a murderous, thieving rapist invented a religion that is one of the most revered farces the world has ever seen.

Islam is more a theocracy than a religion. Also, Muslims appear to hold Muhammad in higher esteem than do they their supposed God, Allah. People have been killed for drawing Muhammad.

The Bible was written by religious zealots, many of whom committed mass murders in the name of their god. So what's your point? Bad people can create good things in their lives, they usually aren't bad all their lives. And last but not least it is NOT a religion, it is more like Thanksgiving than anything else since it is a compilation of mostly west African Harvest Festivals. If you are threatened by that you'd better find a bed to hide under.
