Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, VP Kamala Harris, and The White House all tweeted Happy Kwanzaa greetings.

Based upon the replies (many are funny and included below), Americans are not very receptive to this relatively new holiday. Some people claim that it is a made-up holiday used to further sow division. I strongly agree.

Whitmer says it's a holiday to celebrate African American culture and history.

Kamala says it's about "community and light."

The White House decided to simply say "Happy Kwanzaa" and post a picture of some candles with a black one at the center.

It sure does seem like pandering if not an attack on historical American and Christian values.

the historical american value is to celebrate along with the citizens or to acknowhdge and wish well.

the traditional christian value is to absorb the rituals and holidays of any culture that they contact. .

Blacks are American and Kwanzaa is an American holiday.

You originally posted, "Blacks are American Samoa and Kwanzaa is an American holiday," which I found a bit confusing at first, but I think you are saying that it started in Samoa, so it is American.

Interestingly, Kamala also tweeted that she celebrated Kwanzaa while growing up...

I think she is lying.

Made-up black holiday like Juneteenth.
any event that makes people happy (or sad memorial day eq) can be "made up" unto a holiday. we illiterate barbarians are about to celebrate new years day, when we know that the year of the dragon does not begin until feb 10.

Just a hunch, but I seriously doubt that you have ever celebrated Kwanzaa. Therefore, your "we" is inappropriate.

That's true, and I don't recall any of my Black friends celebrating it either, but they did celebrate Christmas.

In fact, I don't ever remember hearing of Kwanzaa until Obama's term.

Regards,
Jim
