A viral video depicted Fox News's hosts and guests contradictorily blasting former President Barack Obama for saying he would meet with dictators and enemies of the United States, but effusively praising current President Donald Trump for agreeing to sit down face-to-face with North Korean despot Kim Jong Un.

Hannity's double standard on North Korea, Trump and Obama?

A week before Election Day 2008, Hannity gave 10 reasons not to vote for Obama. No. 2 on his list concerned talking to unfriendly regimes.

"One of the most disturbing displays of Obama's lack of foreign policy expertise came during last year's YouTube debate," Hannity said Oct. 26, 2008. "The junior senator from Illinois gave what many called a naive answer for a question from the audience about whether he would meet with the leaders of Syria, Venezuela, Cuba or North Korea without preconditions."

Asked during that debate if he would be willing to meet with those leaders without preconditions, Obama said "I would," and compared that to previous presidents.

"Ronald Reagan and Democratic presidents like JFK constantly spoke to the Soviet Union at a time when Ronald Reagan called them an evil empire," Obama said. "And the reason is because they understood that we may not trust them and they may pose an extraordinary danger to this country, but we had the obligation to find areas where we can potentially move forward."

2018 and Trump

When news broke that Trump was open to meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Hannity voiced support.

"A huge foreign policy win for President Trump," Hannity said March 8. "Little Rocket Man blinks. Now, the president’s tough rhetoric, his bold action, his severe sanctions, they appear to be working tonight. President Trump is accepting an invitation to meet with the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un by May, and Pyongyang is agreeing to stop all nuclear and missile tests while these talks are underway. And the sanctions? They will continue."

Does Hannity have a double standard on North Korea?

Sorry, OP. I highlighted the little part you missed. Hannity said he opposed meeting with them WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS.

Trump didn't meet without preconditions. He met under the strict condition that they completely denuclearize. Big difference.

Moron.
I call bullshit! He backed away from that when they called him on it.

You mean President Donald J. Trump telling a murderous dictator, "Deal or die."?
As opposed to Wussy Obama saying, "Please be my friend...".

When you have more nuclear weapons than your enemy, you can say whatever you want.
Obama would say, "Please like me...please.".

The same liberal media that praised President Obama for talking to Iran and Cuba now fears talking to dictators will give them legitimacy hypocrisy all the way around

Seems that Obama got Iran to agree to de nuke. And Cuba has no nukes or was threatening us.

I didn't miss anything. There weren't any precondtions. NK did not agree to de nuke before the meeting. In fact they decided they would not meet under those conditions.

Rather Iran is de nuking is debatable in any event both are hardline regimes that are massive human rights violaters and have large numbers of political prisoners which is also true of North Korea and is another thing the media has loved to harp on as a reason Trump should not have meet with Kim Jong-un wasn't so with Iran or the Castros.

If you want to avoid stupidity, then turn them off. All of them. Nobody thinks for themselves anymore. People want to be led. It's the darndest thing. What ever happened to leaders?

I mean, really. How often do we read or hear an original thought these days? Heck, even the rules force people to follow and link to some other dolt's half thought out narrative.

Scwewy.

Umm... isn't there a difference, even to the color blind, between a geopolitical red line and an amorphous pink line... lol

Are there even anymore old fashioned news programs on anymore? I think it's all just opinion programming these days.

I tend to agree, that's what you get when you have 24 hours to fill, just fill. Personally I had no idea there were this many "experts" in the US. Hell they even have experts on cow farts and the drinking habits of Russian whores.

As in 'objective'... vs opinion journalism... believe it or not but CNN, ABC, MSNBC (and others) claim to be your objective... "reporting the facts, news of the day" programs... What a F'n farce, and the great thing about Trump's Twittering addiction is that the populace is catching on to the MSM's wool over the eyes 'song and dance' ... The vitriol, at this point, is only underscoring the disparate agenda of MSM ideology vs reality... lol!

When Trump draws a red line instead of the pink one he just drew, maybe you'll learn.

It's called follow through... Trust (not exactly in this instance) but verify, stick and carrot etc. - If you think that you have a template to draw from, from the last administration... it would be quite amusing to delve into that.. lol :) Wow.. would be a treat and exercise in hilarity!
