1 (1) SELECTION REQUIREMENTS.—The Sec2
retary shall select school food authorities to partici3
pate in the pilot program under this section that are
4 nationally representative of school food authorities in
5 terms of size, geographic location, and socioeconomic
6 levels of students served.
7 (2) PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.—In addition to
8 the commodities delivered under section 6(b) of the
9 Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (42
10 U.S.C. 1755(b)), the Secretary shall deliver to the
11 school food authorities selected to participate in the
12 pilot program under this section, at no cost to the
13 school food authorities, plant-based alternate protein
14 products and substitute for fluid milk products for
15 schools under the jurisdiction of such school food au16
thorities for the preparation of daily meals under—
17 (A) the school lunch program under the
18 Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act
19 (42 U.S.C. 1751 et seq.); and
20 (B) the school breakfast program under
21 section 4 of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966
22 (42 U.S.C.1773).
23 (c) EVALUATION.—Not later than 24 months after
24 the date of the enactment of this Act the Secretary shall

1 evaluate the pilot program conducted under this section
2 to assess—
3 (1) which plant-based alternate protein prod4
ucts and substitute for fluid milk products are supe5
rior with regard to—
6 (A) cost-effectiveness;
7 (B) marketability to school food authori8
ties;
9 (C) ease of preparation and use; and
10 (D) acceptance by children participating in
11 the school meal programs under the Richard B.
12 Russell National School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C.
13 1751 et seq.) and section 4 of the Child Nutri14
tion Act of 1966 (42 U.S.C. 1773).
15 (2) any other factors and outcomes associated
16 with increasing the availability of plant-based alter17
nate protein products and substitute for fluid milk
18 products in schools, as determined by the Secretary.
19 (d) FUNDS.—Not later than October 15, 2011, out
20 of the funds in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated,
21 the Secretary of Treasury shall transfer to the Secretary
22 of Agriculture $4,000,000 to carry out this section. The
23 Secretary of Agriculture shall be entitled to receive the
24 funds and shall accept the funds, without further appro25
priation.

Why is the fed even involved in school lunches?

I say Nay- theres no reason for the Fed to be involved in this issue in the first place.

if this bill made it possible for no kid to go to sleep hungry, i'd be for it, whatever the source of good nutrition.
what i read was thirteen paragraphs of the same thing. "substitue for fluid milk"? is it animal vegetable or mineral ???
i'm concerned with the use of the word "authority" is tantamount to it's usage within the context of global warming (trap and evade). "food authority"
it's animal farm.... and who's going to play mister thompson from atlas shrugged ?
i didn't see the rest of it. is there a mention of anything mandatory ? like a body fat index test, cause if there is,,, i say "pry the spatula from my cold dead hands !"
