.

I know the Republicans are very upset about the debt ceiling issue, so just to clarify, two part question:

1. In your heart of hearts, what would you like to see happen here? Specifically?

2. Assuming that Obama refuses to debate the debt ceiling, what would you like to see happen, specifically?

.

They are not upset about the debt ceiling. Writing checks for previous spending is not what this is about. It is a barganing chip at this point.

They want the black guy out of office and until that happens they're going to drag their feet and scream like little bitches about every single possible issue whether it's sensical or even sane or not. If the roles were reversed and Bush was in office right now, they'd be accusing everyone who wanted to fix the budgetary issues of being Anti-American terrorists.

The object in poker is to keep your opponent guessing. Time to fold this exposed hand. Round two Pres. Obama. :lame2:

why are you obsessed with obama's skin color? you degrade him by bringing it up so often, as if it is a crutch.

Yeah that's not it either.

Then why aren't the problems before government being fixed and dealt with?

Because the dumb Rs still think they can blame President Obama for congress not doing their jobs.

Obama has said he would not usurp the authority of congress concerning the debt ceiling and R congress has said they will crash the economy/hold the country hostage/shut down government.

IOW, for the R, its just business as usual. Funny thing is, they still seem to think they have the upper hand, as they did, for about 20 minutes, in 2010.

They really can't get away with that again.

1. Put a 3% cap on spending increases, year over year for 10 years. Exceeding the limit in one fiscal year requires 2/3 approval in both Houses and the excess counts against the following year.

2. Pass the proposal in the House, put the ball in Obama's court.

The debt ceiling is not the problem...it is but an indicator of sloppy government...and ineffective presidential leadership. Congress should begin to defund Obabble's programs...start with Obabblecare.

.

what would you like to see happen here? .

sort like what the credit card companies like. A limit on how much debt somone can have based on ability to pay and history of paying.

Given liberals are 16 trillion in debt, heading to 50 trillion and making the Fed buy 70% of Obama's new debt I'd they should be cut back to $10 trillion right away!!

Personally, I told my reps to pass a raise of the debt ceiling of 500 to 700 billion and that's it. Then make it plain that any further increase would be passed concurrently with a reasonable budget and the ceiling increased to match the approved deficit spending. That would force Maobama and Reid to come to the table and pass a budget, if they fail, then it's on them.

BTW None of the above on the poll.

Obama has already broken the law by not submitting his budget for '13.

Obama Admin. Breaks Law, Refuses to Submit Budget by Deadline Fourth Time in Five Years

The GOP has done nothing to reduce the massive debt, in fact, they have been part of the problem, so why the hell does anyone think they give a damn? LOL.

In the end, it's just more political poo for us to digest so we will hunker down and defend a particular party over another. Enjoy Ameica!! :eusa_boohoo:

The GOP has done nothing to reduce the massive debt, :

actually dear since Jefferson's first balanced budget amendment Democrats have killed 30 Republican Balanced Budget Amendments
. Newts passed the house and failed in the Senate by one vote.

LIve and learn, liberal!!

— Then-Sen. Barack Obama, floor speech in the Senate, March 16, 2006

“Mr. President, I rise today to talk about America’s debt problem. The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills.”

“It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government’s reckless fiscal policies. Over the past five years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is ‘‘trillion’’ with a ‘‘T.’’ That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers.”

When Obama took office in the midst of the Great Recession, the total national debt was $10.6 trillion; it is now $16.4 trillion.

“This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and states of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health-care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on."

“Our debt also matters internationally. My friend, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, likes to remind us that it took 42 presidents 224 years to run up only $1 trillion of foreign-held debt. This administration did more than that in just five years.”

“Now, there is nothing wrong with borrowing from foreign countries. But we must remember that the more we depend on foreign nations to lend us money, the more our economic security is tied to the whims of foreign leaders whose interests might not be aligned with ours.
“Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt."

Senator Barrack Obama

The increase in the debt limit passed on a vote of 52 to 48, with a handful of Republicans joining all Democrats (including then-Senators Joe Biden and Hillary Rodham Clinton) in opposition.

What a difference a change in seats makes.
