There was at least one more person in the house when the police arrived and they let the police in.

Even though the police seem to have been aware that the assailant had entered through another door they only went to the front door and rang the bell to gain entry.

Surely the police knew that this was the home of the Speaker of the House and her husband yet they act as if the 911 dispatcher did something special.

The police claim they sprang into action, but not really though.

PaulPelsoi excused himself from the intruder(!) and used a bathroom in which his cell phone was charging and called the police from there but didn't lock the door and went back into the house where the intruder was.

The story does seem to be changing constantly. The assailant broke in by shattering a rear door but we have the police let through the front door after they rang the bell? Wouldn't police coming to a dangerous situation circle the perimeter?

Pelosi calls them from the bathroom in one story but doesn't stay there with the door locked? In another he 'secretly' dialed 911 on his phone and the dispatcher decided something was wrong via his conversation with his attacker?

One account said he was 'treated for facial lacerations', another said he was taken to surgery with fractured skull, others say his arm and hand were badly injured, some say he was struck at least once? The police were there and didn't intervene to keep the assailant from striking Pelosi with the hammer?

Some accounts said the assailant was also admitted to the hospital? Others say he was taken to jail?

Whatever the motivation or circumstances of a violent attack there is no excuse and I hope Pelosi a speedy and uneventful recovery.

But the story sure seems inconclusive as to what actually happened so far.
