The ACA sees record enrollments his year!

A buddy in PA just went on unemployment for the first time and he signed up for Obamacare for him and his wife. He was expecting to pay 2K/mo. or so, maybe more. Nope. No monthly premium, no deductible. Had his choice of three plans - all big names. Keeps his primary doctor, ridiculously low co-pays for everything, free eyeglasses and dental, gym membership, yoga classes, chiropractor, and yes, a free phone as part of the health plan.

He's talked to numerous Obamacare people during the process. Said they are not like DMV workers. Articulate, polite, knew what they were talking about.

He's still trying to figure out how it's possible, but he has the cards and is all set.

Once he is employed and makes above a certain amount, the premiums kick in. Now we understand why so many people are in no hurry to get back to work.
The Democrats have made it more appealing not to work. An unemployed population is necessary to ensure the downfall of the country.

Incorrect.

No idea how that link relates to the debate about Obamacare.
The reality that you BernieBros will need to reckon with at some point is that zero premium, zero cost-sharing coverage for everyone is unlikely to ever come to pass.
I'm about as far from a BernieBro as possible.

Why can't we have zero premium, zero cost-sharing coverage? Or better yet, why cannot the ACA live up to its promise of keeping people from having to choose between food and medical care?

He must be remembering COBRA where people would pay both their and their employer's contribution if they got laid off. It was expensive, but what you describe takes it too far in the other direction.

Well, that is suprising. They must have them on some kind of incentive for signing people up.

That's why it is entirely too generous.

In the primarily low-income, first generation immigtants school where I teach, it is easy to tell the kids whose parents are poor and getting all the benefits they can find, from the kids whose parents are working hard to stay above poverty and avoid welfare dependency. The ones who can afford braces are the "poor" ones.

Really? You think he isn't in a hurry to get back to work solely because of the ACA premiums. Really?

This is a very good thing. The more people enrolled, the more people stay our of the ER and stay alive.
The Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplaces just hit a record: 16.3 million people signed up for the insurance also known as Obamacare.

That is a million more people than signed up for ACA health insurance last year.
