Thanks Barack… 3 West Virginia Coal Plants to Close

Exactly. Time for the abuse to end and those responsible for this to lose thier jobs.

One of the main reasons Obama needs to be defeated is so we can clean out that nest of cockroaches at the EPA. The next congress should cut its budget by 60%.

The bottom line is that consumers will be the ones who have to pay the higher cost of electricity this policy will cause, and you don't give a flying fuck. You're a callous piece of shit who is totally unconcerned about the poor paying a larger percentage of their income for electricity.

When did the right ever give a shit about the poor?

Always, demonstrated by continuing to provide or trying to provide opportunity.

All democrats do is provide lip service and a dependent environment.

Aren't you clever with your own lies, you even believe them like you eat your own feces.:clap2:

You 'Conservatives' fight every effort to clean up the mess that we have made of this fair land. Your only God is Mammon, and you care nothing about the impact of the pollution from these old plants on the children of this nation. Your lies stating that the plants are harmless are just that, lies. Mercury, causing neurological defects, the rest of the pollution, creating the huge increase in childhood and adult asthma we have seen in the last few generations, are proof of your lies.

But, lying to protect the wealth of the very wealthy is where it is at for you people.

But don't worry about it. The shutdown of all coal fired plants will happen in the not too distant future, brought on by the effects of the GHGs emitted on the climate.
American coal fired power plants produce about 44 tons of Mercury per year. Forest fires in the U.S produce about the same amount. Cremation of the dead produces 22 tons or Mercury. Chinese coal fired plants produce 400 tons of Mercury. Natural sources produce 9,000 to 10,000 tons. This regulation will produce no detectable improvement in the amount of Mercury in the environment. This is a scam Obama is using to drive up the price of electricity and thereby make his "green energy" schemes economically feasible. There is no health impact on children from shutting down these plants. There will be a much greater impact when their parents have to spend more on electricity and less on nutritious food, medical care, dental care and schooling.

Anyone who supports this action and claims to care about children is a lying scumbag.

I concur 100%. All the EPA is about now is a tool for a POTUS to enact political means to an end.

With no thought by LAW (as is written) on how it will affect the economy.

It is decision making by fiat at the whim of a tyrant.

Cap and trade legislation?> Who needs the Congress when you have the EPA to do your bidding?

Obama has already stated he isn't going to wait for Congress.

The unemployed workers can always go out and start their own business or get jobs as CEOs

You just proved that you're an asshole who doesn't give a rats ass about the unemployed or the poor.

Why should anyone care?

They live in the lap of luxury with SUVs, Cell phones, flat screen TVs and microwave ovens

If they suffered more maybe we could help them

You are a true imbecile, Old Rocks in the Head. Coal fired power plants get cleaner ever year. No new regulations are needed.

i also think the epa goes too far in many instances. but there are a few things that all of us are thankful for and don't even know it.

Ah, but that is the 'Conservatives' vision for this nation.

Thanks Barack… 3 West Virginia Coal Plants to Close | The Gateway Pundit

Three West Virginia coal plants just announced they will close this year. Metro News reported: Ohio based FirstEnergy Corporation announces it will close three coal fired power plants in West Virginia by this fall. The closings come directly from the impact of new federal EPA regulations. The plants to close are Albright Power Station, Willow Island Power Station, and the Rivesville Power Station. The company says 105 employees will be directly impacted. The three plants produce 660 megawatts and about 3-percent of FirstEnergy’s total generation. In recent years, the plants served as “peaking facilities” and generated power during times of...

They are closing three "peaking" stations that only provide energy during peak periods...and yet had to burn coal 24/7. There are better alternatives...

Peaking plants don't burn coal 24/7, idiot. Do you actually believe you know how to run an electric utility better than the people who own it?

And it just burns your ass that they could obtain all of those things without gubmint giving it to them, donnit?

Nice to hear you be honest about what you Marxist goobers are up to, for a change.

Which would be?

My preference would be wind or solar, but there are also clean burning natural gas turbines that can be shut off when power isn't needed. Coal plants have to keep burning whether the energy produced is being used or not.

You are truly an idiot who doesn't know a thing about the power industry. The output of coal fired power plants can be adjusted. That's what a peaking plant does.

Indeed. Dependent on thier whims and how politically viable it is to the dumb masses that vote with emotion rather than thought.

Being a right wingnut must be so easy, no matter what happens no need to think, or examine, or analyze consequences, just blame our President and all is good in the world and sleep comes so easy.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

That's hysterical coming from an environmental wacko Obama drone like you!

Another thing these libs are clueless about is the lack of energy power around the US which causes brownouts in the summer months when everyone has their AC on.

So shutting down more power plants in the northeast will lead to brownouts and deaths like in Europe.....

a ton of coal typically costs $20/ton to dig up, crush and get to the furnace. Once there the stuff is burnt and the heat boils water into super-critical steam, pushing turbines. Some heat is recovered in a good coal fired plant, getting about 40% efficiency from coal lump to power-meter at the station’s transformers upping the voltage for transmission. Thus every megawatt produced means about 2.5 megawatts of heat from burning coal, about 0.0926 kg coal burnt and about 0.338 kg of carbon dioxide produced. A 500 megawatt plant thus needs to burn 46.3 kg/second or 4,000 tons of coal a day. And the plant can’t slack off because the boiler and furnaces need to burn that ALL the time.

More on the cost of coal...

How Coal Works

As I pointed out earlier, you're a moron who doesn't know what a peaking plant does. The don't operate continuously at full power. The output of coal plants can be adjusted.

We have here in our locality a couple of them...

These old plants need to be retired.

Utility engineers and accountants should decide when they are retired, not politicians or imbeciles like you.

EPA is the best judge of when to retire them. They install remote monitors in the stacks and surrounding land areas.

All the EPA under this administration does is to flood the industry with more and more regulations with the purpose of raising the cost of regulatory compliance, so Obama can push his "ideology" of wind power or solar alternatives. Energy sources, mind you, that are currently shown to be more costly and less dependable at handling the growing energy demands than that of fossil fuels like coal or oil.

Yet we are suppose to BELIEVE this President is about creating jobs and looking to "solutions" to put Americans back to work. Like the Keystone pipeline and the Federal Governments choice of funding corporations like Solyndra, ideology and politics will most certainly trump any notion this administration is serious about looking for ways to boost employment in the private sector. Obama's statement that "unemployment extensions creates more jobs than a Keystone pipeline", already tells us what he feels is in the Government's best interest for those Americans still looking for work.
