We are a nation of laws. One of our most cherished documents is the Bill of Rights which guarantees the right to a speedy trial, right to see the evidence against you and right to face your accuser

We, as a nation have done none of that and hold men who are "suspected" of being terrorists in indefinite detention. Isn't it time to put up or shut up and either try or release these men?

It's time to do something, this legal limbo we hold these men in is an affront to justice. As it stands it seems the plan is to hold them until they die of old age, shouldn't take any more than 40 years or so.

No, fuckem.

They are not citizens and have no such rights.

Unless you want to let KSM live in YOUR basement.

That was the same ignorant, dumbass excuse Republicans used the LAST time. Either they stay at Gitmo or they are released into your backyard. Obviously the ONLY two options available. Republicans can't think of any others.

Because Republicans terrorized Americans into believing something once doesn't mean it works every time.

Don't they have the same rights as Americans? This is what the OP seems to be implying.

The SCOTUS has specifically ruled on this, the US Gov't can indefinitely hold terrorists without trial, same as during a declared war. If I'm not mistaken we do conduct a review of each case to determine if indefinite detention is warranted.

For those who want to let 'em all go, are you willing to accept the risk that one or more of them would and/or could be responsible for a future terrorist attack against Americans somewhere in the world? I have yet to hear or see a liberal progressive who wants to close Gitmo and release these people man up and say they'll accept the responsibility for those who will die as a result.

Denying people the right to challenge their detention or a trial is one of those things we used to could righteously condemn dictatorships for, no more. Not sure losing the moral high ground in this area was worth it.

You do not have to be a citizen to be entitled to basic human rights

Burden of proof is on the government

Is this your opinion? I don't see any laws broken on this issue.

Do the accused get to participate in these reviews? Are they entitled to representation? Can they refute the evidence or lack of evidence against them?

We are America for christ sakes, we are supposed to be better than this

They aren't being denied any "basic human rights". They are fed better than what they were, they have a Quran and allowed to pray, along some physical activity every day.
They have it better than those Americans in a Super Max prison. Go figure.....

The bill of rights says nothing about only applying to citizens
