Last night I was watching on TV Ted Cruz conduct a rally in Wisconsin. I couldn't help thinking this guy is really a lousy candidate for the Presidency. On so many issues his remarks are really troubling.

Ted tries to say that he is going to do for America what Ronald Reagan did for America in the 1980s from the standpoint that Ted plans to lower taxes on U.S. business and cut expensive business regulation and take the tax revenue flowing into the Treasury from the resulting business growth in America and rebuild America's military like he says Reagan did. First off, Ted's got the facts wrong President Reagan cut taxes and went on a military weapon system buying spree at the same time which super stimulated the economy back then such cannot be done today because it would create a killer increase in the budget deficit. Granted fixing America's business tax structure and regulation structure will dramatically help the creation of better paying jobs in America and definitely should be done but it won't have an equivalent economic and government revenue increase effect of the 1980's in America because due to globalization over the last 25 to 30 years a huge portion of America manufacturing has been offshored so helping this sector of the U.S. economy will only have a marginal positive impact. Moreover any increased federal tax revenue is going to face fierce confrontation on how to spend that money a huge bloc will want to use that money to pay down the national debt, another bloc will want to use this revenue to make health care affordable for middle class families, etc. to represent this revenue will be used to rebuild America's military is to make a statement that lacks integrity.

Ted Cruz says he wants Wisconsin Republicans to do for him what they did for Scott Walker in helping him beat the recall election driven by the Unions back in 2012. Well Wisconsin Republicans shouldn't do that because they made a mistake on the recall election the state would have been better off replacing Mr. Walker he is not a high quality leader he is not that bright he has embarrassed the state of Wisconsin with his inept performance in the Presidential primary race and if he wasn't a governor he would never had the resume to run in the first place; if a Wisconsin's governor election was held today Scott Walker would probably lose. The Republican Party's mistake is not changed by the situation that the Unions should not have initiated a recall election over the anti-collective bargaining rights legislation Walker pushed into law even though it was truly terrible legislation Walker to protect the public's interest did not have to go as far as he did, the equities involved didn't justify a recall.

Ted Cruz condemns Donald Trump for saying he would be neutral in the Israel/Palestinian conflict well for forty years America has been neutral in this conflict. "Neutral" is a poor word choice better terminology would have been to say "honest broker" or "unbiased party". If one is really a friend of Israel they want to help Israel to reach a just peace deal with the Palestinians because otherwise the alternative for Israel and Jews throughout the world is being subject to violence and ostracization. The only way to help Israel to reach a just peace deal is to do what America has been doing since the 1970's advocate for a two state solution with largely 1967 borders and to speak out strongly against Israel putting in settlements on land that Palestinians reasonably and fairly consider part of their state in a just peace deal.

Ted Cruz says that as President he is going to repeal every word of Obamacare. Well I think the majority of Americans like a lot of the words in Obamacare. Americans like the words that your insurance company cannot drop you when you get sick. Americans like the words that close the donut hole for prescription drugs for seniors so after a seniors drugs claim reach a certain dollar level they don't have to pay one-hundred percent of their drug costs. Americans like the words that insurance companies have to pay at least eighty-five percent of the money they collect in premiums as payouts for health care services for their enrollees instead of fat salaries and bonuses for health insurance executives and dividends and stock buy backs for health insurance company shareholders.

Ted Cruz is a really troubling candidate. Former House Speaker John Boehner put it best when a journalist essentially asked him what should the Republican Party do about the fact that their front runner, Donald Trump, engenders unprecedented opposition within the Republican Party should the Party turn to Ted Cruz as their standard bearer for President in the general election and John says no Ted Cruz is the "Anti-Christ" draft Paul Ryan as the Party nominee! Of course John was speaking metaphorically. I would use the metaphor " A Damien Thorn" a reference to The Omen series movies to a character that was the anti-Christ who had a persona of being cold, steely and unfeeling and a heart devoid of goodness. Ted Cruz is a significantly worse candidate than Donald Trump; Donald Trump determines his policy positions by attempting to assess the positions that will bring him the most votes in the Republican primary and Donald Trump has a multitude of serious character flaws likely stemming from a life that overly indulged his King-size ego but deep down at the bottom of his heart he has the skeleton of a good human being. Ted Cruz doesn't have this character foundation his heart is a black hole of goodness, he has no real feeling for the people. This is evidenced by his deed of leading House Republicans to shut down the government over their attempt to defund Obamacare; no reasonably prudent person believed they had any chance of success President Barack Obama made it crystal clear he would not be pressured on this front nevertheless Ted Cruz pressed forward showing complete disregard for the hundreds of thousands of Americans hurt by this shut down. This alarming character of Ted Cruz if elected President will result in him causing alarming and catastrophic harm to an abundance of people in America and the world!

Eh, for me Cruz is to much lawyer and not enough human. Far to much to the right to get anything done and the country is quickly running out of time in the fiscal sense.

I have to admit, I didn't read your full OP and I would recommend being far more concise if your renderings. Not that members can't read but short OP's get more attention... it's just the reality and you can get your points across over the thread.

Welcome to the USMB Jim, hope you have some fun, you seem pretty smart, it will be fun to cross swords I would suspect.

Perhaps Teddy's been takin' Bad Candidate lessons from the HildaBeast...

The female half of potentially the most corrupt husband-wife political tag-team ever to soil the American political landscape...

And, a basketful of corruption incidents and accusations aside, there's the Trust Factor...

Everyone knows that.

Now, are you going to vote for them if they win their party nomination?
