Tea Party Favorite Rand Paul: In his own words....

And that does not make him racist either.
Right....he'd just be the defender o' States' Rights.

whats wrong with states rights exactly?
I guess that'd depend on your complexion.

He'll make a great Senator, we could use a whole bunch more just like him. Liberals can attempt to marginalize him all day, but Americans aren't as stupid as you think. Anyone who watched that interview can see that he is arguing about the PRINCIPLE of limited government and that he is in no way racist.
....At least, he's against institutional-racism, right? That other-kind doesn't really count, right??

where in the constition does the FEDERAL government get the power to tell private businesses whom they can or cant hire?
Yeah....it's probably time to start thinkin'-about dustin'-off the ol' family-relics!!

Where in the Constitution does it force the Federal Government to help clean up TN after a flood? Or an oil spill in the Gulf?

I don't think their is for TN, the oil spill could easily fit under either the defense clause or general welfare since its now ruining food supplies and the ability of thousands of people to perform their jobs. It also is posining land water for years to come that hundreds of thousands of people use

So why are there Tea Partiers siging up for FEMA relief in TN?
It's different when they get government-handouts.....somehow.....

Kentucky GOP Senate nominee Rand Paul is squirming under the bright lights of national media attention since he toppled Mitch McConnell's handpicked candidate Trey Grayson Tuesday night. On Wednesday, an interview he gave to the Louisville Courier-Journal, in which he seemed to say he would have opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, hit the Internet and cable television. Wednesday night MSNBC's Rachel Maddow interviewed him and tried to get him to clarify his remarks, and Paul tried to talk his way out of siding with the terrible folks who wouldn't let black students sit at those Southern lunch counters in 1960.

But Paul basically sided with the terrible folks. The Tea Party hero said he thought the Civil Rights Act was fine when it came to desegregating public institutions, but not private businesses. He called the issue of desegregating lunch counters "obscure," and implied the First Amendment gave business owners the right to be racist.

Rachel Maddow demolishes Rand Paul - Joan Walsh - Salon.com

I know....I know...you will say this does not mean that all Tea Baggers are racist....but come on people?
Rachel asked great questions, a usual, but Paul danced around them. He has not heard the end of the questions about civil rights.

Va? You cannot DEFEND the Kennedy's. They're enterprise...they're "Dynasty" was bourne of CRIMINALITY...and continued.

YOU LOST this debate.

There is no debate. The Kennedy family has a Profile In Courage Award and a Presidential Museum and Library, and a Graduate School of Government and more...and your family has you on a shitty little computer with a shared modem.

His point is valid. what they have now does not negate how they got it. through murder, extortion, and corruption of the government.

Joe Kennedy was a banker, a movie mogul, a financier and very successful business man. Weirdos like you think all gains were illegal? Silly fool, the Whiskey business alone (legal) was hugely successful. Then there was the Mart in Chicago...

if you think Prohibition made Joe Kennedy his money, you are nuts. Early on he was a banker in East Boston and I knew people who knew him way back when. :cuckoo:

At least one writer (Davis, 1984) thinks bootlegging enabled Joe to earn his initial financial stake, but that's hard to believe; he had plenty of chances to make money more or less legally.

Whatever the truth of the matter, Kennedy's real strength wasn't his alleged criminal ties but his business smarts, notably an exquisite sense of timing. In the mid-1920s he became a movie mogul (taking time out for a celebrated dalliance with Gloria Swanson), then organized a merger and sold out just when the industry was consolidating, clearing five to six million dollars all told. He pulled out of stocks early in 1929 and sold short following the crash, actually making money while others got creamed. Just before Prohibition was repealed he lined up several lucrative liquor-importing deals.

By the 1930s Kennedy was rich, but he didn't make serious money by modern standards until he got into real estate in a big way during World War II, raking in an estimated $100 million. In 1945 he made the deal that remains the centerpiece of the Kennedy fortune: for a measly $12.5 million he bought the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, a huge wholesale emporium that had cost $30 million to build. Within a few years the annual gross in rent exceeded the purchase price. In 1957 Fortune declared Kennedy one of the richest men in America, with assets of 200 to 400 million bucks.

I can't figure out how other people's racist behavior makes another person racist as in what some people in the south did. I'm personally glad he had the guts to say it because he is correct. What other people do with their own private property is their decision and instrumental in maintaining individual liberty. Imagine passing a law that said that everyone had to let any particular person that belongs to a race that you hate into your home. You would loose control of your home any your right to believe as you wish which includes being a racist if you wanted to.

I'm glad he said it.

Did you notice that he said desegrating public property was perfectly fine such as schools and public facilities? I would think if he was a racist as you think then he would say that he things segragation of public property should be brought back. That is not what he said.

Anyone who watched that interview can see that he is arguing about the PRINCIPLE of limited government and that he is in no way racist.

Rand Paul is going to destroy his opponent in the general election, and conservatives all across the country are going to get elected in droves. Why? Because of their conservative PRINCIPLES - Limited government and fiscal responsibility. These PRINCIPLES are a tidal wave that is going to wash away the Democrat majorities in November.

Say goodbye to Pelosi's speakership, say goodbye to Harry Reid permanently, and say goodbye to the leftist agenda of the Unicorn Rainbow King.

That's the smartest post I've read on this board since I've been here. Well said.

I am continually disappointed with Liberals that they allow their stance to be lost among their rabid 'everyone who disagrees with us is a Racist' crap from their idiot cousins, the lefties.

Agreed. They're still living in the past. It's a feeble attempt to paint some of us what we are certainly NOT.

Part of the tea-baggity right wants to go back to a time when a business could legally segregate and discriminate, and it's the left that is living in the past.

LOL.
