Suddenly, Progressives WANT the Pope to give the USA direction

This morning WaPost has Progressives encouraging our lawmakers to follow the advice from the Vatican.

Is this a precedent? Can we site this Progressive support of the Vatican on a go forward basis? Can we rely on this new found religious inspiration to direct other Progressive policies -- or is this a one off when it benefits a Communist scumbag?

"But Rubio had more trouble when The Washington Post’s Ed O’Keefe asked the Catholic lawmaker what he would say to Pope Francis, who intervened to encourage negotiations and to receive delegations from the two countries at the Vatican."

What's wrong with agreeing with the Pope on an issue you agree with him on?

What you dont seem to realize is that progressives value good ideas no matter who they come from. Only a retard would turn down a good idea because they dont agree with the source on other issues.

Well, consider the source of this thread.

ogibillm are you going to embrace the Pope's pro-life stance?
who says i'm not pro-life? i can be pro-life and support abortion rights. they aren't mutually exclusive.

but you seem to have a problem understanding that agreement on one issue does not mean or require agreement on all issues. there might even be something you and i agree on, but that doesn't mean that we'll agree on everything.
Simple minds can only imagine the all or nothing scenario.

(21) And thou shalt not let any of thy seed.—Literally, And thou shalt not give any of thy seed. Those who violate the sanctity of the marriage ties will readily sacrifice their children. Hence the prohibition to offer up their children to idols follows the law about unchastity.
Pass through the fire to Molech.—Literally, to let it pass to Molech, that is, to put the child into the hands of the figure of Molech, when it fell into the fire which was kindled in the hollow statue of this idol. Molech, also called Milcom, which denotes king, is described as the hideous idol, or “the abomination of the Ammonites” (1Kings 11:5; 1Kings 11:11). The following graphic description has been handed down traditionally of this idol and its worship :—“Our sages of blessed memory say that whilst all other idols had temples in Jerusalem, Molech had his temple outside Jerusalem, in a place by itself. It was a brass and hollow image, bull-headed, with arms stretched out like a human being who opens his hands to receive something from his neighbour. Its temple had seven compartments, into which the offerers went according to their respective gifts. If one offered a fowl, he went into the first compartment; if a sheep, into the second; if a lamb, into the third; if a ram, into the fourth; if a bullock, into the fifth; if an ox, into the sixth; and if he offered his son, he was conducted into the seventh compartment. He first kissed the image, as it is written, ‘let the sacrificers of men kiss the calf’ (Hosea 13:2), whereupon a fire was kindled in Molech till its arms became red hot; the child was then put into its hands, and drums were beaten to produce tremendous noises so as to prevent the shrieks of the child reaching the father’s ears, lest he should be moved with pity towards his offspring.” It was to this idol that Solomon erected a temple on the southern side of Mount Olivet (2Kings 23:13). This idolatrous worship was punished with death by stoning. (SeeLeviticus 20:2.)

Neither shalt thou profane.—Better, And thou shalt not profane, that is, by causing other nations to say that the Israelites regard their God as an inferior deity, and hence offer unto him animals, whilst to Molech they sacrifice their own children. Hence any act which is done in violation of his commands, or misrepresents God, or by which He is put on a par with other gods, is called “profaning the name of God.” (See Leviticus 19:12;Leviticus 20:3; Leviticus 21:6; Leviticus 22:2; Leviticus 22:32, &c.)

Just wait until the Pope says something the left doesn't like. All of a sudden the Pope will magically turn into a right wing Bible thumping hateful bigot.

Magic is not real. Thats why they call it magic. His idea may be right wing, bible thumping, and bigoted but its not his only idea no matter how dumb that idea may be..

Thanks...some good stuff in your link

Rubio’s emotional — and at times inaccurate — response to the policy change shows why Obama’s move to normalize ties to Cuba after more than half a century is both good policy and good politics. It’s good policy because it jettisons a vestigial policy that has stopped serving a useful purpose, and because it is a gutsy move by Obama that demonstrates strong leadership and will help revive him from lame-duck status. It’s good politics because it will reveal that the Cuban American old guard, whose position Rubio represents, no longer speaks for most Cuban Americans.

All of the insufficiently pure conservatives that were already under the rightwing bus must have experienced quite a shock when they saw the Pope come sailing in...

You too, Father!!?? You too??!!

The old credibility argument is a typical maneuver by those that define themselves through what others think of them. I find that the more people disagree with me the more sheepish and easily led they appear.

I find you and Boo perfect together.

I dont want hear about your sexual fantasies. Are you like the guy that wanted to pay me to screw his wife while he watched through a keyhole?

I thought Progs were ardent atheists.

Most Atheists are Communists (aka Progressives,) But my experience with Progressives is that they are mostly new age morons following doctrines that flow from their naval during drunken binges and drug induced stupor. I also find that the Progressives call their idiocy by dozens of names, some claim their moronic gibberish is Christian, others that it is Buddhist, yet the thesis is the same - muddled populist psuedo-spirituality.
Well, we know what that's all about, don't we?

Magical thinking is a progressive trait.

don't worry, when he says 'abortion is wrong' or 'women should be mothers to their children', they will be back to hating the church.

as far as Cuba goes, are you shocked we are helping a dictatorship?
