Steve Scalise is an establishment Republican....so he's essentially a non-starter. He's yet another RINO.

After Steve Scalise clinched House Republicans’ nod for speaker on Wednesday, he did not deliver a victory speech. He didn’t hold a news conference for cable TV, and champagne was not delivered to his leadership suite.

Instead, within hours, some House Republicans openly doubted that Scalise could ever get elected on the floor. At least a dozen Republicans have publicly lined up against Scalise, who can only afford to lose four of them — meaning that he is all but certain to lose on a first ballot.

The House GOP’s hoped-for moment of unity never materialized. Scalise secured just 50.7 percent of the conference’s support, an illustration — as if one were ever needed — of how divided House Republicans remain after Kevin McCarthy’s ouster last week.

Steve Scalise is quietly thinking of withdrawing from the race for speakership, Newsmax reported this morning, but he hasn't made up his mind yet. I'm currently doing a search to verify this. They don't want to say this publicly, but if he's unable to convince several Republicans to switch their votes, he most likely would withdraw his nomination for the better good.

At this point he's being blocked because of his recent statements, and his refusal to answer important questions.

Steve Scalise is reported to be considering dropping out of the running for the speakership, due to his recent comments on Ukraine, and the failure to secure 217 votes.

It appears that Scalise is a Uniparty member after all. He removed any doubt when he openly professed his love for Ukraine's president Zelensky in a shocking speech that took many by surprise. If Scalise is in charge, the direction of the House probably won't change from the direction that McCarthy was taking it. He also refused to answer, yes or no, did Biden steal the election.

Again.....He wouldn't answer yes or no. So this means he has not the guts to stand up to the Never-Trumpers, much less stand up to the Communists in the Democrat Party.

"House Republicans were on the verge of open revolt Wednesday after the ideologically fractious conference failed to coalesce around a speaker nominee, leaving the chamber rudderless and leaderless for an eighth day.

The inability of House Republicans to agree on who will lead them has left the chamber in an effective standstill since Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted as speaker, unable to consider any legislation to aid Israel in its war against Hamas or pass any appropriation bills to avoid a potential government shutdown in mid-November. Neither issue produced enough urgency for Republicans to quickly elect a speaker as many had hoped, again highlighting the conference’s deep divisions.

Majority Leader Steve Scalise (La.) was nominated for speaker by a majority of Republicans during a closed, secret-ballot conference meeting early Wednesday. But a significant number of Republicans from across the ideological spectrum said they planned to protest his official election on the House floor. Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio), Scalise’s challenger, initially refused to say he would back Scalise on the House floor. A spokesperson for the Judiciary chairman later clarified Jordan would back Scalise and offered to give a nominating speech on his behalf."

SOunds like Democrats need to back a Republican for Speaker.

Think they are smart enough to do it?

Trying again, eh? :heehee:

stalemate until there is a Speaker.
Thats an ideal for the Democrats right now. It makes the republicans look horrible and insures no harmful legislation might get through.

I do like the idea of ten of them voting for Trump for Speaker. Now that would put the Republicans in a fun furball!

From the article you posted

That means losing no more than four of his own Republican members — a difficult task when several ardent Jordan supporters, including Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and Max Miller (R-Ohio), are already vowing to back the Ohioan on the floor and not Scalise.

meaning that the headline isn't as true as we would like to believe it to be. They list three of the four immediately....then there's the RINOs....
Sorry, I don't see this working out anytime soon.
I could be wrong on this...some sort of deal could be made I'm not privy to....but it's going to have to be a doozy of a deal.

And Hamas wins when we have no one in charge of the House to vote funds to Israel.
