Sony hack takes a very serious turn

Guess I didn't realize how stupid a movie this actually is....

This is not entirely on point but I found it an interesting story...

Somebody at Sony cooked up the greatest marketing gimmick of all time.

I am totally pissed off. We bowed. Over a STUPID comedy movie starring two losers who are not funny anyway. The mighty USA has cowered over...THIS.
Gracie you're wrong here. This is over lawsuits and liabilities. This has nothing to do with bowing to terrorists threats.
BS.

Terrorist threats levied - movie cancelled. This is directly related to threats. It does not matter why the threats worked, the FACT is that they did. You will see this again as it has proven to be effective.

When did Americans completely lose their spines. No one is in any danger.

So what's the history behind this?

Did we cave like when Hillary made South Park not show Mohomoah as a fag?

Hillary didn't make anyone do anything. Nor could she make me.

‘South Park’ Episode Is Altered After Muslim Group’s Warning

An episode of “South Park” that continued a story line involving the Prophet Muhammad was shown Wednesday night on Comedy Central with audio bleeps and image blocks reading “CENSORED” after a Muslim group warned the show’s creators that they could face violence for depicting that holy Islamic prophet. Revolution Muslim, a group based in New York, wrote on its Web site that the “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker “will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh” for an episode shown last week in which a character said to be the Prophet Muhammad was seen wearing a bear costume. Mr. Van Gogh was slain in Amsterdam in 2004 after making a film that discussed the abuse of Muslim women in some Islamic societies.

The new episode of “South Park” on Wednesday night tried to revisit this character, but with the name and depiction of the character blocked out. It was unclear how much of the bleeping was Mr. Stone and Mr. Parker’s decision. In a message posted on their Web site, SouthParkStudios.com, they wrote that they could not immediately stream the new episode on the site because:

After we delivered the show, and prior to broadcast, Comedy Central placed numerous additional audio bleeps throughout the episode. We do not have network approval to stream our original version of the show.

On Thursday morning, a spokesman for Comedy Central confirmed that the network had added more bleeps to the episode than were in the cut delivered by South Park Studios, and that it was not giving permission for the episode to run on the studio’s Web site.

Bullshit. sony pictures cowered. Not the US. Quit sucking up to North Korea.
I don't think you and I have ever agreed, until now.

Sony Pictures, while based in the US is not an American entity.

It does not really look that way - the hack severely damaged the company by exposing emails that were obviously quite embarrassing. No way that anyone in the business was stupid enough to try this - get caught and you're a prison *****.

Sony is the one to make this call, not the US. Rest assured that they gave this some thought.

That being said, N Korea is going to have hell to pay for this mess. The US is, for the first time in history, going to cyberwar.

You heard it hear first.

Sony simply showed us how much confidence we have that the Obama Administration will protect this country.
The way he keeps gutting the military and selling us down the river to despotic regimes ... there is little hope that Obama will make sure we have anything better than a good response to any attack.

Meaning clean up the eyeballs and blood and then plenty of harsh words but little or no military response. There will be no cyber-war with North Korea because they'll start lobbing shells into South Korea if we do anything in retaliation. The only people that are scared of Obama is the American People.

Oh, horsefeathers - spin, spin, spin....

We're supposed to bomb the crap out of NK for this? Jesus, you tough guys cost the US some serious cash.

Here's another whimp out:

Steve Carell’s North Korea Movie 'Pyongyang' Canceled in Wake of Sony Hack

The shockwaves from the Sony hack have finally reached Hollywood’s development community, as New Regency has pulled the plug on its Steve Carell movie Pyongyang, which Gore Verbinski had been prepping for a March start date, an individual familiar with the project has toldTheWrap.

Based on the graphic novel by Guy Delisle, Pyongyang is a paranoid thriller about a Westerner’s experiences working in North Korea for a year.

Steve Carell s North Korea Movie Pyongyang Canceled in Wake of Sony Hack

They say, that North Korea should care about the response to 911. But... Do they understand that Bush attacked a country that had nothing to do 911? This time America can attack South Korea, for example.

Nothing is going to happen. The Hussein could care less about intimidation to force censorship. Hell, he probably admires it and wishes he could do it himself against anyone who dare think a contrary opinion to his own.

Many assclowns on this board have called for Rush to be taken off the air. Progressives fear true freedom of speech, especially that of criticizing a government. Insulting a fellow Statist like Un isn't likely to win over the Hussein.

i will bet there will be a pirated version of this movie offered on amazon, U-tube or any of the other sources available to on line internet subscribers.

The litigious nature of Americans got this film canceled. All it would take is for one lone gunmen not even related to any terrorist group to be an opportunist and kill some people at the theater. There'd be lawsuits up and down. Theater chains and owners aren't going to risk being drowned in millions upon millions of dollars in legal fee's over a movie. You can also bet their insurance companies told them they are on their own if they decide to screen the film after these threats.

You're right, it is VERY effective. Americans just got a little taste of how effective and powerful cyber terrorism is.
