So what do you on the left do

If there is a huge Republican/Tea Party wave that takes control of Congress?

the same thing you did when you got your butts handed to you in 2006 and 2008.

d'uh!

except without all the birfer racist garbage.

I have been observing the Tea Party and American politics. The Tea Party is a wave unprecedented in our history. It reflects a sentiment very similar to that which lead up to the American revolution. As the government becomes more intractable in its insistence of disregarding the will of the people, the tidal wave will continue to grow. We may or may not agree with the philosophy of the Tea Party movement, but the evidence is overwhelming that it is a movement of the people, and not an agenda of politicians.

I expect that the movement will remain an integral part of American politics for some time to come. As the government continues to run roughshod over the wishes of the people, it will probably gain momentum.

Much of the argument for or against conservatism; for or against liberalism is also leveled for or against; against or for the Tea Party depending upon the views of the one making the argument. The government and the Democrats pass laws; then tell the people: “This is what you want.” The argument often is: “The government passed this bill. It is what the people want. The Tea Party is wrong for opposing it.” A good example is the current Health Care bill that the Democrats rammed through behind closed doors. 60% of the people were against it; 60% of the Senators disregarded the will of the people and voted along party lines. The truth is: If the Tea Party does not reflect the will of the people, it will wane as the Government acquiesces to the will of the people.

Most important, it should be recognized that the Tea Party represents people from all walks of life, and consists of people of all races – blacks, whites, Hispanics etc. Its agenda is not racist.

Most of the drivel that I have seen on the boards is accusation against the Tea Party; not its beliefs. The Tea Party reflects ideals that every American can adhere to and has nothing to do with race, but they are called racist. The Tea Party may be right or wrong in its beliefs, but attack it on its beliefs. Don’t make up lies about it; then make accusations based upon those lies. Such lies and accusations make your argument ring hollow.

So are the current crop of TeaBaggers ready to accept people of the Left persuasion wholeheartedly into their ranks. You know, the same left-leaning TEA Partiers that were ignored COMPLETELY during the Bush Regime? You think in 2 years when the Right has ramsacked the current Tea Baggers they'll be ready to head back to roots and be more centrist and encompassing and not so reactionary and far right wing?

Not a goddamn thing.

Yoo hoo. Pay attention to reality. If the wave is huge; i.e., they take control of both houses, they will try to repeal everything bad that the present group of politicians have passed. To do so, they need to gain 54 seats in the Senate (which is not likely), and the people have to hold the feet of the intransigent politicians to the fire. Even if the Republicans only gain control of the house, they can demand such repeals. This will at least show the American people who represents them, and who it is that only votes the party line.

The left will....

- Blame Bush
- Bow down to Obama
- Cry racism
- Protest
- Smoke some pot

Pretty much the same thing they've been doing for 50 years now.

WE have a lot of terms here without evidence to substantiate their credibility: people of the Left persuasion, and reactionary and far right wing. The traditional American way is believed by the great mass of American people. The Tea Party reflects this consensus. Socialism, Leninism, Marxism have always been regarded by the majority of Americans as extreme left. As near as I can make out, people of the Left persuasion reflect the extremism of socialism. The Tea party reflects the feeling of most Americans – hence the reason for its popularity. To suggest that the Tea Party somehow reflects the sentiments of the reactionary and far right wing simply because it does not espouse the sentiments of a fringe left element is an argument without merit.

To my understanding, there is no litmus test such as leftists give to see if one is politically correct to join the Tea party. Anybody can join. However, if you join, do not expect that the majority should bend to your will just because you demand that they believe your way.

If the Left persuasion represents the sentiments of most Americans, how come we do not see evidence of it like we do with the Tea Party movement. Where are all of the people in support of Left persuasion?

"IF..." being the operative-word!!

"For lifelong Republican Joe Errigo, deciding to cross party lines and support a liberal Democrat for New York governor wasn't nearly as difficult as one might expect.

Similar groups can be found in heated races elsewhere nationwide, often those featuring Tea Party-endorsed candidates, attacked by Democrats and some moderate Republicans as extreme.

"Mainstream Republicans are refusing to support the latest crop of insurgent candidates in the Republican Party because of their extremist beliefs," said Deirdre Murphy, spokeswoman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Washington."

:eusa_whistle:

"Harry Reid is the most resilient figure in Nevada political history. He should not even be here. He lost a U.S. Senate race in 1974, embarrassed himself in a mayoral race in 1975 and should have lost his re-election bid in 1998. But he found a way to win 12 years ago, and he will again Tuesday.

Angle is a natural retail campaigner in small political subdivisions. But that’s not what a Senate race is about. And her campaign never could find a comfortable way to reconcile her past, controversial statements — they tried massage, change and deny — and she made plenty more during the campaign (Sharia law here, Canada’s terrorist conduit, Latinos-in-ads amnesia)."

If the GOP lawmakers intend to gain credibility, following their own just-say-no brand, they would be much better off proving to the American people that they do NOT just "vote the party line" and try to amend the bills they hate so much. Any attempt at outright repeal will fall flat on its face, simply because there will be backlash from the more social liberals within the Republican Party. And yes, I know it's hard to remember, but they DO exist--in great numbers.
