Since when does the Catholic Church have the right to force their religious values...

Obama thinks he knows, that he is on the right side of the Constitution, you can justify anything, and ignore the real issues. It is easy, what I. Find amusing is Obama has no clue as to why people are upset. He is really out of touch.

I have to disagree. I don't think Obama believes himself on the right side of the Constitution, nor do I think he's confused as to why people are upset. I think, on both subjects, he just doesn't give a shit.

But...but...liberals say Obama cares for and loves everyone and he is a Constitutional scholar, so he knows the constitution and we should not question him.

Liberals say a lot of stupid shit that's not worth the air it took to say it.

On the upside, they do breathe out CO2 to help the Faither cause.

...on their non Catholic employees?

Churches are exempt from the ruling.

However, religious institutions that employ and serve people outside their faith -- hospitals, elementary schools, universities -- have to comply with the requirement to cover birth control if they offer health insurance coverage for employees. That means such Catholic institutions, which employ and serve wide swaths of non-Catholics across the country, will not be exempt, despite church teachings against use of contraception.

Obama Administration's New Contraception Rule Puts Key Catholic Vote at Risk

What gives the Catholic church (or any church, for that matter) the right to force their religious convictions on employees who aren't even catholic?

The correct question is: Since when did Americans forget what religious freedom really meant and how our rights were intended to protect us from a government that would THIS? The Catholic Church isn't "forcing" its value on anyone. Scares the shit out of me that an American looks at this and thinks it is the Catholic Church "forcing" its values on others by refusing to foot the bill for something that violates ITS RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND CHURCH DOCTRINE! Not even being able to identify the correct victim here doesn't bode well for our future. Do you people seriously not understand this is the EXACT kind of over reach by government the founders intended to protect us FROM? Our rights don't come from government and were NEVER intended to be a tool for GOVERNMENT to use to CLUB US INTO SUBMISSION when ordered to whatever government demanded -whether it violated your religious beliefs or not.

If you think your rights come from government instead of something that is to be protected FROM government and you think THIS is the proper role for government -hang it up, you are already a government owned slave who has no problem selling off his real rights for whatever trinket government thinks you can be bribed with.

Think about this: if this mandate is allowed to stand, there will be a reason to set more mandates. Many of you think paid birth control is a great idea.
What if the next head of mandates owns stock in an IUD company and "mandates" that all women of child-bearing age have one inserted?
What if the next head of mandates thinks homosexuals should be neutered since they can't have children "the green way"?
What if the next head of mandates orders children to be fed a specific menu?
What if the next head of mandates orders anyone with hereditary diseases to be neutered?
What if the next head of mandates orders anyone over 85, then 80, then 75, then 60 not to receive any "expensive" medical treatments.

This administration with some help from congress have cut the amount going to Social Security for the rest of the year, depleting the Social Securtiy reserves, just how do you think this gov't is going to solve the problem of too many retirees, and too little money?

Yea and none of you are going to like what is coming down the pike with the Wellness programs that are in the new health care bill

love to see the anger from the Jewish and Muslim community when the dieticians require the kids to eat non kosher/halal meals. They'll long for the days of meek little protestants and catholics quietly tolerating their fucktardery.

This is not about the "Catholic Church". The gov't selected an unpopular, relatively small group to target to test the usurping of individual rights (in that particular group). If the gov't is NOT STOPPED, it will pick another "unpopular", relatively small group to target. If they are NOT STOPPED there, the gov't politicians will have declared themselves to be superior to citizens, and SELECTIVELY hand out benefits or punishments. If you think it is "unfair" now, ......

If you want to be locked in your cells every night and turned out to work, and then be locked in again, vote for bigger gov't. If you want "equal", vote to reduce the size of the gov't. The "gov't" does not give anything away for free. There is always a "price", most libs don't even consider the price when they hold out their hand or even notice the shackle that was slipped on while they were "accepting free stuff". You will have a choice in November if you want more bureaucrats in your life or not. It is a one-way street. Once you start down the street, you cannot just turn around and go back. Your choice.

You couldn't be more wrong. I'll give you a couple examples. Lets say your company is run by scientologists. Do they get to refuse covering chomotherapy if you get cancer because their religion doesn't believe in that kind of treatment? No they can not. They have to provide insurance and all insurance covers preventative medicine. Birth control is preventative medicine. The Catholic Cult no matter how big can not infringe on our rights because they don't believe in a certain procedure, like contraceptives. This isn't an issue of us infringing on their religous freedom. This is them imposing on us.

Here is my second example. My brother is in HR. The executives didn't want to give health insurance to gay employees. It came down to the question, can the employer discrimninate based on their personal beliefs? No they can not.

Now Republicans would disagree. Rick Snyder just took away healthcare from gay employees' partners. I believe that this will be challanged and reversed some day. In 2 yeras when we vote Snyder out.

P.S. Funny the pope approves of gays using contraceptives. So he understands that gays can get deseases from having sex but he can't understand that straights can to?

Link to proof?

No it doesn't. Proof again?

Birth control is preventative medicine.

Really? What DISEASE are you preventing? Is Pregnancy a disease now?

The Catholic Cult no matter how big can not infringe on our rights because they don't believe in a certain procedure, like contraceptives.

I believe it's high time we started muslims eating pork in this nation. The National Pork Board shows all sorts of benefits for that.

How do you think that stand is going to go over?

This isn't an issue of us infringing on their religous freedom.

Atheists will now be required to say the FULL pledge of Allegiance, and the Lord's Prayer before every gathering. Good law, yes?

This is them imposing on us.

By refusing to enable you, they are imposing their morality on you? How are they stopping you from providing for yourself?

Here is my second example. My brother is in HR. The executives didn't want to give health insurance to gay employees. It came down to the question, can the employer discrimninate based on their personal beliefs? No they can not.

1. There's no constitutional protection for a business.
2. The first Amendment prohibits the government from interfering with a religion's tenants and practices. This service is offered to those whom are involved with the Catholic church as a service for their faithful. You don't have to use it, the same way you don't have to use a church's clothing drives, or bake sales.

Now Republicans would disagree.

Rational people disagree.

Rick Snyder just took away healthcare from gay employees' partners.

Show the law that says he can't.

I believe that this will be challanged and reversed some day.

Many people believe the same about Roe v. Wade. And?

In 2 yeras when we vote Snyder out.

Counting chickens before they hatch I see.

P.S. Funny the pope approves of gays using contraceptives. So he understands that gays can get deseases from having sex but he can't understand that straights can to?

Link to this 'approval'? Secondly, when's the last time a gay couple got pregnant by each other?

1. Scientologists don't believe in medical treatment like blood transfusions or psychiatric drugs. They can't refuse this to their employees. And Catholic employers can't deny coverage of birth control. Obama was only being nice when he compromised. Didn't want to make this a political issue, so he has the insurance company handling it. Brilliant.

And you have to understand you represent a very small fringe group of people. An extreme minority. Even 99% of Catholic women have used birth control. Only the extreme right wing fringe of your cult is anti birth control or doesn't understand its importance.

2. What are we preventing? Unwanted pregnancies. And it is funny you right wingers want to end welfare but then force poor women to have children. You make no sense. You only care about life until it is born, then it is on its own.

3. Provide for yourself? Doesn't insurance cover anything anymore? And I know $800 isn't a lot to you Mitt Santorum, but it is to these women. And you don't understand the cost savings here helping these women NOT have kids. The welfare will cost you much more than $800 amonth. So they will die because you refuse them welfare? And you care about life? HA!

4. Show you the law that says federal employers must provide healthcare to same sex couples? Doesn't exist, YET.

Remember, you are the minority, not me. Most people are pro birth control and pro choice.

I find it funny how many things you asked for proof or a link. Look any of what I said up and prove me wrong if you can. I'll give you one: The Pope approves condom use for gay hooker sex | Nerve.com

1. Scientologists don't believe in medical treatment like blood transfusions or psychiatric drugs.
Nor do other sects. So? It is easily refused to their employees. Don't offer health insurance benefits. No law says they must.

BTW, do we have evidence that they even DO offer this benefit?

And Catholic employers can't deny coverage of birth control.
Sure they can. First amendment baby. It's a service of the Church and a religion is not required by law to violate their tenants.

Obama was only being nice when he compromised

Well isn't he the friendly type of dictator then? Well doesn't that just make you feel all ready to sing Sieg Heil in his honor?

Didn't want to make this a political issue, so he has the insurance company handling it. Brilliant.

He stuck his dick in a meat grinder known as the catholic church and then wondered why his dick hurt when he cranked on it. He very well could have cost himself the election right here and could still end up with a religious fight on his hands which he cannot win.

Even 99% of Catholic women have used birth control.
highly assumptive and without proof. As someone who is friends with catholic women, I can say flatly that even if they are LYING about not using birth control, they support the Church's right to tell that extreme minority supported by the administration to fuck themselves and see what happens. This is just as true of protestant women I know too. i doubt you know a one.

Oh, and I'm VERY not catholic and have strong issues with their teachings and dogma. But in this, I will stand with them and be a voice to shut your ilk's fascism down.

What are we preventing? Unwanted pregnancies.

Right. Pregnant gay men.

And it is funny you right wingers want to end welfare but then force poor women to have children.

"I've lost the argument" Non-Sequiter. Catholic birth control of Abstinance works 100% of the time.

Provide for yourself? Doesn't insurance cover anything anymore?

Yes. There are hundreds of secular choices for insurance able to provide for you. There are also tens of thousands of over the counter methods you can purchase with or without your church's approval. Provide for your own lazy ass, and buy a plan that says it will give you what you want. If you don't want a product that will not provide birth control, get another one. It WAS a free country once.

And I know $800 isn't a lot to you Mitt Santorum, but it is to these women.

If you're paying that much for the pill and boxes of condoms every year, either you need to quit whoring yourself, or consider charging and making it a business expense that's tax deductible.

And you don't understand the cost savings here helping these women NOT have kids. The welfare will cost you much more than $800 amonth.

All the more reason to keep Uncle Sugar from playing surrogate father. It then ends the moral hazard of making it profitable to fuck and punch out kids for gubmint checks.

Sooooo... you got nothing but gooooood intentions? Yep.... that's a law.

Let's stick to what IS... mmmkay?

Remember, you are the minority, not me.

bullshit.

Most people are pro birth control and pro choice.

yes, but most people are also anti-lazy-ass and anti-welfare cheat too. So you go ahead and try that moral high ground. The strong back-lighting makes you an excellent target.

Hmmmmm. The last time we had male Priest/ Cardinals making major decisions about sexuality they let child sexual abusers continue abusing children and did not report them to authorities or fire them.

The Lutheran Hour mentioned this this morning on their national broadcast. We support our brothers in the Catholic church in this matter. This is far from over Mr. President.
